Your story made me cry. It's a beautiful addition to lls_mutant's Space Between Us 'verse. The characters all were very real and the emotions just grabbed me and hauled me through feeling the story rather than simply reading it. Felix's numbness brought back memories of how I acted in the immediate aftermath of my brother's death. There's a certain sense of distance from the loss at first. Denial is to simple a word; you know exactly what you've lost, you just can't experience it fully for awhile. Your story captured that extremely well.

Aww! (I hope the teary-ness didn't screw with your breathing! Hope you're feeling better!) I really like what you said about knowing what you've lost but not being able to experience it yet--that's exactly how Felix was feeling.

Thanks so much for reading!

This was really touching. I especially like Sara's thoughts on the afterlife. I've never thought of it like that before, but it makes sense. And her comment that what Felix had said wasn't what mattered, that they'd lived out their love. I remember my brother being really upset about the last conversation he'd had with my grandmother, that it been something mundane, and so that part really got to me.

Thanks so much! The Sarah-Felix discussion was the kernel from which the rest of the fic grew, so I have a soft spot for that, too. Her way of thinking there just seemed to fit well with the themes in the original fic.

Thank you! It's always nice to return to writing Felix, and for once, I had no guilt putting him through the wringer, because he'd had such a good life full of love before I broke his heart this time. I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

Oh, Kappa, this is beautiful! First of all, I cried, which frankly, I fucking deserve after what I've been up to these days. But I've missed this universe and Felix and Louis building that long life together, and you captured that feeling so well with that overwhelming loss. I love it. I love that the whole mention of them being captured kind of jolts Sarah- you get the impression that time was not something they talk about often, which I completely agree with. And Sarah and Felix talking- I love the bits about Sarah still being very blunt (although she's grown), and their discussion about faith was so very wonderful. I adore it.

So much love for this, and thanks so much for writing it!!!!!!!!! I'll have to read it over and over :) (Sorry I'm replying late, too, but I was away this weekend.)

Thanks again!!!!! It's gorgeous :)

I'm so glad you liked it! This idea has been in my head for a long, long time, so I'm glad the fic itself lived up to the idea. It is so nice to return to Felix and Louis, especially in this 'verse--I can't feel that bad about making Felix cry, because they both had such good lives. Sarah was a fun and interesting voice to write, particularly getting her to talk about something emotional even though her default is bluntness.

I had such a great time writing this. Thanks so much for letting me play in your fic sandbox!!
