Pressures Produced When Penguins Poo, And Other Things You Didn't Know You Didn't Know

My brain works in strange ways sometimes.

All these lovely con photos got me to thinking about how to make sure nobody is blinking in a group photo. Then, I remembered I'd heard that someone had calculated the number of photos it takes to almost ensure no one in the group is blinking in at least one shot (the rule of thumb for groups of less than ( Read more... )

These pieces of information are just... bizarre. But in such a good way.

Aaaand leave it to my hometown to decide a gay bomb is a good plan. I wondered why we heard about that more in Dayton than in other places. (And also? Your Felix muse cracks me up. ;) )

BANG!

My Felix muse is unhappy because I'm putting him on the Raptor of Death again. He wants innuendo to geek!sex to make up for it. ::sighs:: Muses can be so demanding...

Tell him to come over to my head so's I can write him some geeksex. I would gladly provide that to him if only he would stick around long enough for pen to hit paper. My Hoshi muse is mad at me for letting all three of the fics I had starring him stall, so maybe that would make him start talking to me again.

Also randomly, I stumbled upon a fic you might like, seeing as you so wanted Roslin to talk to Felix in the sick bay. Don't know if you've seen it, but I found it in a sort of obscure manner, and figured if you hand't, it is relevant to your interests. :)

Really? I didn't know that. That's strange and pretty cool.

I heard about the gay bomb. I remember that one. We had a good laugh about it.

Your Felix muse cracks me up. I can't blame him for needing a laugh. My Felix muse isn't overly happy with me, either, and insisted on inserting a sweet little daydream about Louis into the Colony stuff. I let him keep it because it really is cute, even if he's not very creative and just expanded on a daydream he had in YFL.

But right now he's having more fun for frak_that. He finally let me write the Helo locked Gaeta in his locker fic.

Oh, and my favorite Ig Nobel? Cooking a turkey via potential energy. They basically dropped a (frozen) turkey off a third story building 30 times and took its temperature after each time. Impressively, the turkey heated up (as it thawed), and when you plotted the data... well, the data clearly indicated a linear trend :)

Ok, seriously broke into a giggle fit in the computer lab. That's the funniest thing I've heard about people doing with science in a good, long while. Oh, dear. *wipes wee tear from eye*

Yay for sweet daydreams!

You know you're torturing characters when the *fun* fic involves getting shoved into a locker. ;)

Next time my endocrinology prof goes on and on about the Nobel Prize winners . . . I have some ammunition. >:D

I'd actually heard about the hiccups one. It made it into a snarky comment on House.

I totally want a gay bomb now. I want one for the German military so we can attack the Pentagon with it. :D

'That wasn't foreplay--Louis had hiccups.'

Hee!

Sadly, I don't think they ever actually pursued making one, since nobody knows what kind of chemicals they'd have to use to make it work. I get the feeling it's just one of those departmental memos that the military was *really* embarrassed about when the Freedom of Information Act made a bunch of non-classified documents available to the public for inspection and ridicule.

Glad Felix amused you. After "Culture Shock," he's been so insistent on getting laid again...If you give a mouse a cookie, then he'll want a glass of milk, I guess.
