Despite my best intentions, last week turned out entirely the opposite to the way I wanted it to.
On Sunday night, I had a bad headache and a sore throat, which very rapidly developed into aches and pains all over the place. Early Monday morning, I was physically sick.
I initially thought it was the flu - throwing up, fever, aches and pains - but the throwing up part passed rather rapidly (thankfully). The sore throat continued with a vengeance, and a trip to the doctor had me diagnosed with tonsilitis, something I haven't had in years. Indeed, the doctor was so taken by how ill I'd become that he was scared it could've been glandular fever to boot, which it turned out not to be.
Still, the entire week was spent off work, which had the advantage that I was able to finish "Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell" nice and quickly. By the end of the week, though, it was just annoying - I'd pretty much got the rhythm of things back at work after my 4 weeks off, and then lost it again.
Still, the weekend's been much better. Last night was the annual Riverfire fireworks, and this year we went to Dad's apartment to see them as he has fantastic river views up to the Story Bridge and wasn't anywhere near as crowded as it was at Southbank last year (for obvious reasons).
Today's Fathers' Day, and the plan is for everyone to meet at Mum's place (Mum herself will be out) for lunch and a movie, which should be fun too.
