Free vasectomy cautery with purchase of x-ray!

Hokay, vicodin makes typing a little more bearable. In fact, it makes everything more bearable. I'm in my happy place!

Good news: At the ER this morning they got three x-rays of my thumb, and didn't see a break! So my record of having no broken bones is still, well, unbroken (the x-ray tech was hot and looked like Goran Visnjic from ER, which was awesome). I must have an adamantium skeleton. But it's kind of a moot point - thumb is still the size, shape and color of a plum and hurts like perkele, just as it would if it were actually broken. And I can definitely say goodbye to the nail in a few days. The doc used a small cautery pen to put a hole in the nail so the blood collecting under it could drain, which did relieve some of the pressure on one side at least. Then she said I could have it to take home, and it would work well for small sautering jobs as well! So once I have my thumb out of the splint again, I can put it to use on some jewelery repair projects. And the coolest thing about it is that it says VASECTOMY CAUTERY in huge font on the side - I'll definitely take that to work to show off tomorrow!

Then felislachesis and bzarcher helped me with my epic amount of laundry and I took them to Bahn Thai for lunch. I am lucky to live near such cool friends.

Until this morning I have never ever taken any narcotic painkiller - even after getting all my wisdom teeth out, I took an Advil. That was it. But today was just such unrelenting pain and throbbing that I had to do something about it. I have a 10-day supply of the stuff since the doc said it would take at least two weeks to heal. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so damn persistent! Stupid crush injuries... I can actually see my pulse on my thumb. Eerie. Thank god it didn't break the skin or that would have been a huge mess.

It took me forever to type this so I think I need a nap now.
