It's so Shiny!!
NYC Comic Con Day 1
Wow talk about blessings in disguise!!
We all woke up late this morning except for myself who was up most of the night working >_>;;.
So I tell my boy Zane we're going to be an hour late and then we all load up the car and head out to the Morristown Train station. We end up just missing the first train on arrival. In the mean time I'm trying to figure out where to park my car. I still to this day cannot fathom how the train station doesn't know where to get parking permits for train station parking.
So I'm outside with Erica and SCORE I notice a Staples. But as I'm pulling out of the train station I discover the road to the Staples is a one-way street...in the opposite direction. So I had to drive a whole circle around to park.
Finally I park and run back to the train station and literally miss the train by one minutes.
My boy Zane calls and I tell him we just missed another train and he said he's going to start heading up.
So Erica and I decide in an hour to move the car to a nearby parking garage and stop at a grocery to get some snacks at the con. Luckily, there was a food market right next to the Staples!
After hitting up the food market and acquiring our gummy bear and froggy goodness (yes you read that right!) we get a nice space at the parking garage.
Now it's time to walk back and man it's cold enough to freeze some socks :x! As we're walking we begin to feel like we're lost so we ask a man where the train station is and he tells us we're going the wrong way! Erica and I were cold and our hands were turning into frozen lady fingers >_>! EEEEE!
We race to the train station and make it with 2 minutes to spare!!
On the train we pass out as Erica takes pictures of us sleeping. Next to us is this really cool chick who starts asking us if we are going to a con. She tells us the greatest story ever about how her place in Pennsylvania was totally "ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE". One day as the only sound echoing are the click of her heels >>>>OMG ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!!!<<<< she find a Wiffle bat O_o!! Holy crap a weapon...>>>ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!!<<< Sorry to say there were no zombies in this story but there is >>>>ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!!<<<
She thinks it's cool we're exhibitors at comic con and recommends we check out this con in Jersey call "Wicked Con". She explained is the con for everything con. I love meeting random people.
Finally we arrive at the train station and journey with Suz as fearless leader to the convention center. We see the giant glass building of the Jacob Javitz and cheer!!! It's not over yet as we have to wait in line to get our exhibitors badges but happines for us as it only took about 20 minutes.
We high-tail our shiny badges to our booth and start setting up like crazy. It's girls vs boys in a race to set up smexy black wire crates. Just like building a house O_O! We make record time and set up in half an hour. We look around and notice we are next to some really frickin' awesome artist... LUCKY!!! Then I grab Erica for a trip to the ladies room where my shirt needs adjusting because my boobs are about ready to pop out. She also needs help from me putting on her makeup.
In the ladies room we loosen my corset and fix my top which solves the problem of convicts...er boobs trying to escape from their clothy prison! As we are putting on Erica's makeup we meet an really cool woman by the name of Shanti who offers us her light green eye shadow. We find out she has a vampire comic in artist ally and quite possibly the coolest boots in existence. Except for maybe the girl next to us who Erica wanted to lick her boots because they were just that cool!
We bid good bye to our newly made vampy comic gal and head over to the booth! My friend John Wilcox who has me pose for a few pictures as he likes to photograph a Suz >_>. A guy stopped by and gave me a flier for a comic radio show that deals with comics that talk about social and political issues. Children seeing an alien flea who wants to take over the world...now that's what I call politics!
Zane has gotten back from his meeting and we finish any last minute setting up. I see the cool chica miss Elisa Feliz and she is excited to have gotten her Mike Choi prints. Which who wouldn't as that man ownz! Then as we are talking to some people my friend Steve Valedez finally makes it over to the table. As soon as I see him I give him the biggest hug ever because he is rad awesome like a brother and needs big hugs! We talk for a bit and she lets me see his animation which was really cool. >_> It apparently was on youtube but I don't remember seeing it. He leaves then comes back with his friend who he says is awesome so I nag him to give me a shiny card. He starts laughing asking how I knew it was shiny? Then he whips out this uber shiny of doom (DOOM I SAY) sparkly silver card...HOLY CRAP THIS IS SERIOUSLY THE COOLEST BUSINESS CARD I'VE EVER SEEN and it's SHINEY!!!
They are off and I decide to go hunt down Ashley who is working at her boss, Dennis Calero's, booth. The moment she sees me she shakes her head at my outfit because all she sees is boobs >___>;;....Dennis is busy so I run away and investigate artist alley. People keep stopping me to take pictures in my costume and I'm not even dressed as Wonder Woman. I'm just a Gothic belly dancer but I guess people thought that was cool because I had like 12 people ask for a picture with or of me?? On my way too I meet Fabio, Regan, Lou, Emi, Gio, Ivan, George Carrera, Jeff Clemens, Irwin Hasen (my old teacher), John Wilcox, Shawn O'neil, and some other people I don't remember their names too. I go back to See my lady Ashley and she introduces me to her boss. Then I run away and rejoin the crew.
The rest of the day was toned down. At the end of the con Erica was making a killing selling her hair accessories! GO ERICA WOOHOO!
We walk back to the train station and meet some guys who are quoting Pink Flyod and then I have to get after Erica for straddling my bag XD;;. We make a brief stop to shoprite and go home where we chill then pass out...except me because I'm still hyped >_>!!
Tomorrow...DAY 2...SATURDAY...the day of ...
