Slept until 8:30am!!! After staying up until a bit after midnight, mainly texting with my nephew.

T & B will have a day together while I head to the condo for Time to Self, then tomorrow I'll clean the condo before heading back home. Then I'll get out the spreadsheets and figure out the financial sense of taking 7 months severance and then early retirement at 58. Then I'll discuss with T, and with K. Then if I decide yes, I'll try to secure some sort of verification from my employer that this VERA offer is real.
If I were to accept VERA, then I won't have to return to full time in-office work next month, I would stop working at the end of February, receive severance pay through the end of September, and then start receiving my pension in October.
The main alternative would be to continue working until 62. If I was going to retire at 60 anyway, I should probably take this offer, because retiring at 60 would not be that much better than retiring with VERA at 58. Whereas working until 62 would give me a 10% bonus to my pension.
I hope they extend the decision deadline, but if they don't I'm prepared to run the full simulation and make a decision by Friday.
