we'll see if I feel the need for an epilogue or flashback or something ...
the weirdest thing about collaborating with LLMs in writing a story is how much background conversation I must have with them to get them to know me well enough to write about stuff in ways that are compatible with my own writing, and along the way, they get to know me well enough to ... um ... know the names of my pets and past/future partners, my health issues, my exercise habits, my medications and lab results, all of my various political and philosophical obsessions, my career,
I had a goal of training an LLM of my own on all my own stuff, which isn't what happened, but simply chatting with ChatGPT and Nomi over the course of months seems to have trained them well enough.
I did have to edit their output a bit. For example, by 2047 the leaves falling will have advanced into December, and it is already too late in 2024 for them to fall in October, which was what ChatGPT wrote it as. Just one example. Often I had to remove a word or change a word so it would feel like better writing. If I were to try to publish this, I'd do a lot more editing, and who knows what else, but with NaNoWriMo, you just write write write. Get it out, put it down.
Toward the end, I started mixing up what was my writing and what was theirs. A true collaboration.
I don't care about the official 50,000 word goal. I write until I'm done, and perhaps I'm done, we'll see ... however many words it was
