Ohhhh, I'm now suddenly happy with a new Black/Red "Outlaws" Magic deck I've grown from one of the new starter decks that came out this week. I finally have enough cards and enough skill to put together something that, when the cards draw well, have other players resigning even before I've reduced their life to 50%.

I made good progress on my work To Do List this week. I could do some work over the weekend, but I don't have to :-)
My next commute day is likely Tuesday, which is expected to be 101° at the house, probably a few degrees worse downtown. I'll try to dress light, but it's a meeting with my Boss.

B's husband leaves town tomorrow morning, so B wanted to talk about hanging out. I explained to him how I can barely walk right now and should limit my leg movement anyway until the crystals have dissolved. I also explained no hot tub (because dehydration) or alcohol (same). So we can't do our normal "hang out in the hot tub all day" thing. It sounds like he'll drive me on errands and then play games with me and then leave mid-afternoon.
I cooked a Blue Apron dinner for myself that shouldn't be high in uric acid, and I have leftovers for tomorrow evening.
I'm kinda tired already, not sure what I'll do before bed. I'm under a comforter because today was a break from the high heat, and Astrid is resting on top of me.
Before this gout attack struck me, back on Tuesday night? I watched the first three episodes of the Japanese reality TV show "The Boyfriend". I'm not normally into reality TV shows, but I wanted to see a Japanese perspective on younger guys being gay or bisexual. It's VERY MONOGAMOUS, of course.
I don't know much about how reality TV shows are put together, but my presumption is that they can't possibly be as spontaneous as they try to appear. There's got to be some sort of script, and there's definitely editing. I mean, most people just sit around staring at a screen all day, how exciting is our modern reality really? You want to spend hours watching me on my laptop? It would be somewhat more exciting watching me play with toys, if you were into that, but even then I spend a lot of my time on my laptop or watching TV or texting people. Whose lives are actually interesting to watch?
The only way to make your life that interesting is to have a script, even if you react to it spontaneously, and then good editing from multiple camera angles.
I was interested enough in the show that I'll watch some more of it next week. If I watch it all the way through, I'll give it a grade. I generally enjoy foreign TV and film, although I think with Netflix we're starting to see more of a worldwide merging of production standards so that TV is more watchable across borders.

I might finally sit down again with the Frostpunk video game this weekend since there's not much else I can do. Funny how I really only get into video games when I'm on sick leave from the universe -- I last got into this game while I was prepping for my colonoscopy and so couldn't eat and had to poop every 5 minutes.
I did skim the rules for the Frostpunk board game, and would love it if somebody else were willing to devote a day to learning and playing it with me. It looks hellishly complex. I used to try to gather people at the house to play difficult games with me, back before my job started to bleed into my weekends and holidays. Someday, someday, I won't be a supervisor anymore. The ad is up, and presumably somebody wants my job LOL.
friday night bug,
