Friday!

I'm hungry. But I should stretch before breakfast. After breakfast I have stuff to do before I head out around Noon, including work stuff, chores, and personal grooming. The more work stuff I do, the less I'll need to do on Sunday.

The US vetoed a request by the Palestinian Authority to be recognized as a full member state of the United Nations (UN).

It irks me that any country has veto power at the UN, this makes the organization look illegitimate in my eyes, despite the good work it has done over the past 80 years. I'd love to move the UN toward a true global parliament, and a good first step would be to get rid of the veto powers held by China, France, Russia, the UK, and the US.

But more specifically, why does the US block full statehood for Palestine? Given the historical roots of Israel, via a UN resolution that created a two-state solution, it would be both logical and humane for the UN to recognize both Israel and Palestine.

I'm against religious nationalism, but I'm for consistency. If the US recognizes one of the two religious nationalisms competing for control of The Holy Land, it should recognize the other also. It's called the "United Nations", so let's welcome all the nationalisms on equal terms, with proportional representation. I'd let each person on the planet freely choose their nationality, and then allow each nationality a seat at the UN, with UN voting power allocated by the number of people who have chosen that nationality. For people like me who are not nationalists, there'd be a globalist category.

Anyway, I'm dreaming again, of stuff like world peace LOL.

But how does the Biden Administration defend vetoing Palestinian nationalism, while providing weapons to Israel that are being used to bomb Palestinians? "Hamas are terrorists," they say. The US doesn't like North Korea either, but we allowed North Korea to enter the UN along with South Korea in 1991 -- despite labeling North Korea a "state sponsor of terrorism" at the time.

But, Israel is the favorite adopted country of the US, the largest recipient of our foreign aid since WW2 -- over $300 billion of cumulative aid in today's dollars. The US would obviously rather The Holy Land be controlled by Jews than by Muslims. We speak of Israel's right to exist and right to defend herself while vetoing the same rights for Palestine.

we suck, global green anarcho-communism, global studies bug
