Thursday lunch break
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!
My work VPN was down this morning at 9am as I tried to log in. And not just for me, for lots of people all over the country. I had three interviews to conduct today, and references to check, and other meetings and tasks! And we're running out of time before the Saturday midnight shutdown to get everything done. There was no time for me to get downtown in time for the first interview. So, I had to scramble. Using my work phone, which I rarely use, I was able to contact other interviewers who were able to get online, they sent a revised Teams invite and other stuff to my personal email, and I was able to do the interview with them from my personal laptop.
Meanwhile people on my staff were texting my personal cellphone about how they couldn't get online either, so I'm fielding those messages during the interview, trying to help people figure out a workaround, while the IT Help Line was reporting wait times of over an hour, what a mess.
I was getting myself ready to go out the door at Noon to resume my workday downtown, when finally I was able to log in.
OK, taking a little lunch break now. The rest of the day should go OK. Fuck.
