Between the massage and T's arrival last night, I slept pretty damn well. We went to bed early, I was sleepy, then I slept through the night. It is comforting having him here.
Now he's got to be at a lab in Frederick by 7:15am, so he's up at 5am. I will get out of bed soon and stretch and prepare for my own commute. He's going to spend the night at a hotel in Frederick because of all the stuff he needs to do at that lab today, tonight, and tomorrow. I'll see him again Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, a new wave of Canadian wildfire smoke is heading toward the DC area, with a forecast of Code Orange for today and tomorrow. I did not have much difficulty with Code Yellow or Code Orange last time -- I didn't feel lightheaded until Code Red, and I didn't feel awful until Code Purple/Maroon. But I shouldn't spend extra time outside in Code Orange, so I may not go running again (or walking outside) until this wave passes. So much for my plan to run tomorrow morning before I commute.
With the return of the smoke I've ordered a room-sized filter, it should arrive Thursday. I may use it to hole up in my bedroom if the smoke gets Code Red or worse again. But I also don't know what component in the smoke was making me feel ill, whether it is large enough to be filtered out. That will be a future experiment of sorts.
For now, I plan to commute today and tomorrow, but if the smoke affects me adversely I'll take sick leave and/or stay home. This time I have a better idea what to expect from different levels of smoke.
