The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and D.C.'s Department of Energy and Environment issued a “Code Purple” air quality alert, indicating very unhealthy air conditions for everyone, not just those with respiratory illnesses. They said the situation was unprecedented. Code Purple is the second-worst of six color-coded levels in the air quality index (AQI).

“The D.C. region has not previously recorded a Code Purple day for fine particle pollution,” the council’s statement said.

I'm quietly resting on the sofa, after putting my work laptop on "Out of Office" and closing it. I'll look at it again in the morning. No more about work until then!

I was ready for trouble breathing, I wasn't ready for having a physical and emotional meltdown as the Code Purple smokewave moved through Kemp Mill. I have a different appreciation now for what some people are going through when the air pollution gets this bad.

What today most reminds me of is back during MAL when I was coming down with norovirus but I didn't realize yet I was sick. It was a sort of "I'm poisoned and my immune system is reacting strongly" sensation, my immune system forcing me to shut everything down and crawl into bed.

OK, immune system, you win.

let the wookie win, natural disaster, sick
