I'm amused that an ex-president worth $3.2 billion thinks he needs an "Official Defense Fund" to solicit donations for his legal defense. You've got to be quite the sucker to fall for that one. But, Trump is unusually good at conning the suckers.
On average it takes about 9 months to resolve a criminal felony trial, not counting post-conviction appeals. I expect this one will take longer, because the defendant will be fulsomely represented and the judicial system will want to avoid stupid mistakes.
Even if convicted before November 2024, there's no rule saying you cannot run for president from prison. He could even win. I'm not sure how you get the nuclear "football" into the president's cell, however. Would the Secret Service have to set up shop in the adjacent cells? How would the president take part in top secret conference calls with other world leaders using the prison phone?
