I slept in! Because I was up late watching a British TV show on Netflix. I'll review it after I finish it, I've got a couple more episodes to go (of six total). It did take me out of my own head and end the small bout of anxiety I was feeling yesterday evening.
I was going to commute today instead of tomorrow, because I want to run tomorrow, but today there are two good reasons to NOT commute -- one, there's a Winter Weather Advisory today, so telework limits have been waived for that; two, there's the US/Africa summit, so telework limits have been waived for that.
And, three, more personally, I was on travel status for three days of this pay period, and I took a day off this pay period, and those days don't count against my telework limit. So overall I could and should just stay home for the rest of the week. If I do commute, we've got a two-hour grace period for the weather, so I don't need to decide until 10am ...
The standard I apply to those I supervise is this: if you can articulate a reason to telework instead of commuting, then I say yes. My own Boss has told me, "Don't even bother me with requests, just do it," because he would otherwise be spending a chunk of his time replying "Yes" to frequent waiver emails from the 17 people who report to him. Yes, way too many people report to him. It's not the system I would design.
Anyway ... whenever the freezing rain stops I should go run an errand for T and then fill up my gas tank. Maybe today I'll do a yoga or dance video in between things.
