the universe doesn't give a fuck about you

Until we meet a benevolent God and universe, until we realize that the foundation of all is love, we will not be at home in this world.

-- [I don't want to call him out personally ... let's not name him for now ...]

I had time to kill at LAX, because I couldn't watch the soccer game on my phone, the networks were too congested, so I wandered into a book store.  Yeah, people buy books to read on long airplane trips.  I wasn't going to buy a book, I had plenty to read on my phone if I wanted, but, browsing.

In the Self Help section I found some books that claimed the universe is on your side, so, start accepting its help, cheer up, set goals, move forward, etc.

But the universe doesn't give a fuck about you.  You're alive, for a while, due to completely random processes.  You won the galactic lottery -- you are fucking alive -- but only for a while, and then you will disappear for the rest of eternity, as you were before you were born, nonexistent.

For me, when I comtemplate this reality, it does motivate me to make the best of the time I have.  But a lot of people require an ideology of denial to make the best of the time they have.  They need to believe the universe is benevolent, on their side, perhaps hiding an eternal afterlife from present view.

I was brainwashed to believe in those Catholic lies when I was young, and giving them up was dreadfully difficult, but there is another side, the side of reality, and though reality is harsh --> you're here anyway, for now, you won the galactic lottery, you have TIME, so enjoy your winnings.  Earth is the pleasure planet -- we've not yet found another planet that hosts life, for a time.
