Is that even a billionaire like him cannot fully self-fund a campaign for President of the United States. He's turned over to fundraising more than any previous Republican candidate in our history.
Of the $1.1 billion dollars Trump spent on his 2020 campaign (more than twice what Romney spent in 2012), he self-funded only $8,000. [Yeah, he's pretty cheap.]
But Biden's campaign spent $1.6 billion in 2020. Democrats have been outspending Republicans since Obama first abandoned the Watergate-era public financing provision in 2008. Hillary spent almost 2x Trump in 2016. Obama spent about 50% more than Romney in 2012.
If you're concerned about "money in politics", Democrats are drinking from that hose far more deeply than Republicans.
But even a billionaire can't do it alone, it takes an oligarchy (not a village).
