2040, bitches!
A subtle change to my LJ name, as I updated my goal for fully adopting Green Communism from 2050 to 2040.
I probably won't update it again, if ever, until after I retire. I'm still holding out for my pension in 5 years, 8 months, and 7 days, and until then I need to live my current lifestyle.

Right now my top state for initial retirement is Michigan. It's one of the top swing states and it legalized marijuana. I'd probably live in either Ann Arbor or Detroit or somewhere in between -- they're both part of the same Combined Statistical Area (adjacent metropolitan areas), only 45 miles apart, with continuously built-up areas along I-94. Ypsilanti!
But by 2040 I'd have to live in a different country altogether.

Before I had step goals of giving up all coal power by 2030, gasoline by 2040, natural gas by 2050. Now having done more math I'm not viewing the different carbon-based fuels as privileged against each other, my goal is to give up all carbon power by 2040. Not "net zero" but "actual zero". Not counting offsets. I'm already offsetting everything, I'm already net zero. I'll go actual zero by 2040, somehow. Of course, when I'm living on $1,800/year giving up fossil fuels may be the least of my worries.
