The news blackout is holding well enough. It's not 100%, but it is a huge difference from before. I'm still getting a bit of news from the following sources:
(1) whatever T tells me directly during our conversations
(2) Google News headlines, not logged in, pretending I live in Canada, and looking only at "world" headlines -- I only had to shift over to Canada to dial down the partisan US crap
(3) two weekly and two monthly hard copy magazines, which I may not even read
(4) stuff that slips through via Twitter -- although I don't follow Twitter for news or politics, sometimes it leaks through anyway
That's it, that's plenty.
The news blackout is definitely reducing the load on my brain, both intellectually and emotionally. Combined with the resumption of meditation, and a slower pace of work this week, I'm feeling the ecology of my brain shift to something more peaceful and satisfied.

P.S. From what little I've heard over the past couple days, there are two sides in US politics: the side that gets their hair done even during a pandemic, and the side that tells its supporters to vote more than once on purpose just to fuck things up. That's the level of discourse in the US news media. I'm done with y'all.
