I saw tentative increases in the number of new confirmed cases, in late May and early June, that turned out to be blips.
But now the number has leapt higher, yesterday was the highest number since May 1. Unmistakably on the increase now. Too many states are in the double-per-month club after reopening, and with time, doubling, keeps on doubling ...
And the surveillance data, which lag by a week or two, show cases have stabilized nationwide, are no longer falling.
At least the number of deaths is still trending down. Our hospitals may be doing a better job of keeping us alive. With three treatments showing significant benefit in clinical trials, we may be cutting the death rate from 0.7% to 0.4%? But this still depends on the hospitals not running out of beds.
Some states are going to run out of beds during July.
We are all, eventually, Wuhan.
