I don't show my age on Grindr, because I think it is irrelevant.
But sometimes guys obviously lowball their ages. I've seen a couple of profiles lately that claimed they were under 30 but their pictures screamed "NO WAY is this possible" to me, unless they've spent 24 hours per day on suntanning beds to destroy their skin.
Once I caught a gay coworker of mine claiming a ridiculously lowballed age on Grindr, along with an old blurry picture of himself.
It's so easy to lie about your age on these apps. Yet some people still take age ranges very seriously.
Supposedly there's a lot of "catfishing" also -- people using fake pics to get hookups to show up. I haven't experienced this yet, but sometimes I've encountered people using old pics from when they were significantly younger or slimmer. I've been using the apps a lot for over a year now, so I'm suspicious of people who haven't changed their pics at all during that time. I change mine pretty frequently, I think it helps to show I'm a real person.
Anyway ...
I need to get moving with my day.
