if you delve into the evolutionary biology of rape, admitting that evolutionary biology is mainly thought experiments, then there would be an evolutionary advantage both for the rapist, and for the one who is raped, you've both added another offspring to the gene pool,
and when this basic thought experiment rappels down the rathole of my Night to Self brainstem,
this is the explanation for BDSM,
and I remember, one of my goals for my solo therapy was to figure this out, but instead we talked about my early family life, LOL, of course,
and I remember concluding that there was no way to figure this out, and maybe we shouldn't even try figuring it out, because that would destroy the fun, but, when you put on your evolutionary biology goggles ... things exist for reasons relating to survival and offspring,
and we're all descendants of both rapists and those who were raped, so ... we all have this strain of nonconsensual dominance and submission within our DNA ... if your mother successfully fought off her rapist, then you don't exist ...
and I've been wondering for a long time, why our present-day culture tries to put such a premium upon consent, we have a consent fetish surrounding sex nowadays, I think about how many parts of our lives do not have our consent -- or perhaps only the illusion of our consent -- why consensual sex now? after a long history of women as property ...
and here I am a gay guy who is into BDSM with men, how does that even fit into evolutionary biology, I'm having no children, but all my ancestors did, obviously, so ... gay men had children in the past, via fucking women, perhaps without her consent ...

back in the 12th Century, what proportion of sex was consensual? what if it was less than 10%? seriously -- women = property, then, -- so, her consent was irrelevant ...
