I slept in the basement last night
As I was getting ready for bed last night, the National Weather Service made an unusual announcement for people living in my area. I don't know how many people heard it, or heeded it.
They said to have a method available for receiving weather alerts during your sleep, because around 2am a severe weather system would rumble through our area, with a strong possibility of tornadoes.
Um ... so I decided to sleep in the basement, with my phone's volume turned all the way up in case it received an emergency alert of some kind. The pets slept down there also, because they wanted to be near me.
I think I heard some thunder, but no alerts came through and I slept normally, considering I was on the sofa. But I've got a little pain in my side that might be from sleeping on cushions instead of a mattress.
