Title: ALIENS -O.o-
Genre: au, romance
Ohno and Jun are childhood friends and housemates.
I promised
bubbledrops a fluff before I start anything else. I tried.
**~ ALIENS ~**
Ohno sat in his room staring up at the sky and lost sight of it.
He thought that this was it. No more.
* [ A is for Addiction ] *
Ohno burst into Jun's room.
The younger man started, forgetting the girl underneath him. Ohno blinked and watched the scene he had broken into.
And somehow, Jun could not bring himself to be angry at him. Even when the man had interrupted his plans to lay the girl he had brought home. He felt frustrated, yes, but not angry. When Jun did not continue, the hot girl who had sizzled under his ministrations a second ago sat up with a "tch!"
"I'm going," she said.
"Wait!" Jun called after her, but she passed by Ohno on her way out and the older man's blank stare caused him to give up chasing her. He cursed his priorities.
"What?" Jun bellowed, irritated as he threw himself on his pillows and hid his face, along with his burning erection. He blamed Ohno for this pain. But it was inevitable. Over the years, he'd held back countless times because Jun had chosen his friend over some girl. Now, nothing had changed.
To Jun's question, Ohno replied, "Aliens."
"Aliens," the younger man repeated, surly. Aliens.
"Aliens," Ohno went on. He meant it. Aliens.
"What the fuck is that!?" Jun sat up, furious.
* -O.o- *
An hour later, after he had his time in the bathroom and a quick shower, Jun sat across from his eccentric childhood friend. Childhood friend and housemate, at that. They might be best friends too, but that was too overwhelming for Jun to consider. This man was taking over his life. Every aspect of it.
Opposite him, Ohno drew on a piece of white cardboard without paying him the slightest attention, despite being the one to ruin Jun's night.
Jun sighed wearily, patiently. "What are you doing, Satoshi?"
His opposite blinked and appeared downhearted. "I tried to draw you, Jun. But now you've become an alien. I don't know you anymore."
"What?" Jun had no fucking idea what Ohno was talking about.
The older man raised his head and paused long enough to smile at him to soften the blow. "We're still friends, right?" he asked hopefully.
Jun had no idea what the artist was getting at, but he'd forgive him. Just because Ohno had the cutest smile in the world. He reached across and tousled his friend's hair. "Yea," he answered.

Sho sat next to him at the bar and counted on his fingers. "These are your problems, Matsumoto," he started in a matter-of-fact way. "In the case of Ohno: One, you spoil him too much. Two, you're possessive. Three, you're overprotective. And that's precisely why you're an alien."
Jun scowled. "Don't use his word." Now he regretted telling the damn story. This was not the first time. He went on adamantly, "I'm not an alien and I'm not possessive of Satoshi. Overprotective maybe, but that's because he'll run into a pole if I'm not looking."
"Not literally," Sho pointed out, tipping his drink. "But I'd like to see this Ohno Satoshi you're always complaining about <3."
"No way," Jun growled, cursing that added heart at the end of Sho’s sentence. He visibly frowned.
But Sho exclaimed, "Why not!? He's adorable!"
And to that Jun snapped in return, "Only I can adore him."
Sho observed him and reached an understanding about his friend. To Jun’s glare, he nonchalantly turned to sip his cocktail. He believed Matsumoto was possessive. He knew Matsumoto was not in a normal relationship. "No wonder Ohno-chan asked if you guys were still friends."
Jun chose to ignore that comment.
* -O.o- *
That night, Ohno sat silently in his dark room and did not draw. The pencil lay idle in his hands. He watched the stars and moon shine outside his window and just stared. Thinking. Contemplating.
Reasoning and trying to let go.
At midnight, he finally did.
* -O.o- *
"Jun," he said over a breakfast the younger man was cooking.
"Hm?" the latter sounded, reluctant to lose eye-contact with the stove.
"You can get a girlfriend now."
Jun did finally turn to raise a questioning eyebrow. "Explain," he ordered.
Ohno smiled, if only slightly. "We've always been together, right? I'll let you go now. Fly away, little bird."
Jun frowned at the exaggeration. "So you're the one who's been holding me back."
Ohno nodded to confirm his belief. His gaze moved to his food. "You remember back in middle school. I confessed to you. You said you weren't gay. They bullied me and you stood up for me anyway. We were friends since then." He finished. Ohno sighed with a small shrug. "I'll let you go now. You can get back on your spaceship and fly away."
"What spaceship!" Jun demanded.
* -O.o- *
"I can build you one," Aiba told Jun over lunch break. He went on eating as if he hadn’t said the damnedest thing Jun had ever heard.
"I don't need one!" Jun snapped, slapping his hand down on the table. He lost his appetite. Why did everyone side with Satoshi’s craziness?
Aiba proceeded to not mind. He predicted the future carelessly, "Then maybe he'll leave you."
* -O.o- *
Jun hated when someone like Aiba was right. He came home and all of Ohno's possessions were gone, and he had panicked. What the heck was going on? Where did Ohno go? Disappeared to? Had he eaten? Is he well?
He worried and ate his dinner. And he missed that pest terribly. Yes, Ohno was the damnedest pest Jun knew.
He had taken everything in Jun's life after all. Overwhelmingly. And now Jun realized, a little annoyed when he did, that all these years he only needed Ohno.
* [ I is for Intentions ] *
Because he could not bear to stay in that same house without Ohno, Jun stayed out for four days and three nights. He called for a girl each night and spent the hour debating the good and bad qualities of that worm who had stolen his youth. "He's eating away my life," Jun ended with a curse the last, third night.
The girl who had been listening all the while sighed and massaged her temples. "If you're gay, you shouldn't have called me," she muttered. "Pity you're so handsome too."
Jun coldly stood and took her wrist. She blinked up at him. "What?" Now? But he dragged her across the room and to the door.
"Are you throwing me out!?" she declared in disbelief.
"Yes, I am," he told her bluntly. But, before he shut the door in her face, Jun said, "And by the way, Satoshi is just special."
* [ E is for Everything ] *
He decided he'd go home that day. When Jun walked through the door, he was surprised to find Ohno in a corner. The older man was on his knees bowing in front of a strange looking box.
"SATOSHI!?" Jun exclaimed in surprise and instant happiness. He rushed over and stopped when Ohno still kneeled with palms clasped together.
"Jun!" The artist looked up with a huge smile. His eyes lit up. "You're back!"
"What are you doing?" Jun eyed the box suspiciously.
Ohno turned back to look at it. "Nino said that if I build a shrine, you'd fly back. He's right."
I'll ignore that, Jun thought. "Who's Nino?" he asked, irritated by this faceless name.
"My friend."
"What friend?"
"A boy friend."
Jun pulled on Ohno's arm at that moment.
"You're finally back, Jun!" Ohno repeated, ecstatic, and did not even struggle when the younger man dragged him into his room and to the bed. They fell on it together, Jun holding that annoying pest very close.
Ohno squirmed. "Jun, I can't breathe. What are you doing?"
"I haven't slept in days," he muttered into Ohno's blonde hair. It was bliss, holding Ohno so close like this. He knew with renewed clarity that he only had need of Ohno.
"Jun, you're not going to leave me, are you?" Ohno asked out of concern.
"Stupid. You're the one who left me," he replied, quietly.
To that, Ohno shrugged, or tried to. "For a few hours. I've lived with you all my life. I realized I couldn't do the rest without you. I'm sorry that your girlfriend will have to wait."
I don't get you, Jun thought. It's me who can't do without you. But he was fast falling asleep, his heart now at peace, when he felt Ohno ease in his arms.
"Jun," the older man whispered because he knew that the latter was sleeping. "We're still friends, right?"
No. Matsumoto Jun entered the dream world thinking he would have to explain later. And this time maybe it was his turn to confess himself.
* -O.o- *
In the morning, just before daylight, Ohno sat by the window of Jun's room. The younger man breathed quietly in his sleep at his side.
Ohno stared at the sky and wondered.
* [ N is for Necessity ] *
Late morning came and Jun woke to light already streaming in. He was alone, but when he went around to check, to his relief, Ohno was silently drawing in the kitchen. It had not been a dream.
Jun quickly washed and went to meet him. "Did you eat?" he asked.
Ohno shook his head.
"Are you hungry?"
"No."
"What are you drawing?"
"You. An alien."
That again. Jun sighed and grabbed Ohno's chair. He pulled it back and squeezed himself in behind the man. Jun looked at the drawing as his arms went around his friend. "Oh. It's just me."
"I know," was Ohno’s simple answer.
"Where's my spaceship?" Jun asked, just for the heck of it.
Ohno smiled to himself and indicated the ring he had drawn on Jun's finger. "Here," he whispered. Marriage; the symbol of escape from this life and Ohno.
Jun glared and tightened his hold, shaking his head. No. "No, it'll never happen, Satoshi."
Ohno frowned. "Why not?"
"Because you're special."
Ohno refused the answer. "Why not?" he demanded.
"Just because."
"Why won't you?" Ohno wouldn't back down.
Jun gave up and hid his face in the older man's shoulder. How should he start? Silence pervaded the room like the grip of death, tense, straining, as if the very air was holding its breath. And then he finally answered, "After all these years, turns out I love you after all, Satoshi."
Neither moved. Neither spoke.
Jun continued to hold on, afraid that warmth, that precious weight in his arms that he finally treasured, would disappear. After all these years, he knew how much it meant to him. What if Satoshi had forgotten? What if he had moved on? Had he heard?
He raised his head to confirm the truth and realized Ohno was crying. The older man's tears dripped onto the paper and ruined the drawing, clutched tightly in cold hands.
Jun's heart ached, painfully aware that after all this time, he finally knew it mattered. "Why're you crying?" he asked softly, moving to turn his friend around to face him.
Ohno refused to meet his gaze as those dreadful tears fell down. "I waited forever," he sobbed, shaking his head in disbelief. "And I waited. I thought it would never come true and I really gave up. I did. I did."
Jun embraced him again, suffocatingly tight. He would never let go. "I love you, Ohno Satoshi," he repeated, tried to engrave into that man's heart. "I love you." So that he would hear to not give up. Not now.
This was right. Ohno this close was right. He was an idiot for noticing so late.
"Can I touch you? Can I live in your world?" Ohno asked.
In the end, Jun understood that bit about the aliens. "I'm the same species as you, Satoshi," he said. "I'm human."
* [ S is for Soulmate ] *
Ohno sat in his room staring up at the sky. He had only a blanket wrapped around himself.
A naked Jun sat up on the bed and threw a pillow at him. "Satoshi, come back."
Ohno frowned and shook his head.
Jun grumbled and moved over. If Ohno was not coming, he would go over. He drew his friend into his arms and looked out also. "You're always gazing off. What do you think about?"
Ohno’s direct answer was, "You."
Jun tried to keep a straight face as his chest swelled. He couldn't help feeling happy. "Always?" he asked.
"Always."
"What about?"
Ohno sighed and leaned back against Jun’s chest. "That I want to hit you. Punch or kick, whichever works."
"Liar." Jun stiffened and that was when Ohno turned to look up at him.
"Jun, will you get a girlfriend?" Ohno asked.
Jun stared, not understanding the stupid question.
"Will you get a girlfriend?" Ohno repeated.
Again with the repetition. Jun blinked down at that dear person and then he saw the fear and worry. He smiled warmly when he understood and kissed Ohno softly on the lips. "No."
Only Ohno Satoshi for him. Forever.
"Don't you like girls?"
This time, Jun wished he knew what Ohno thought about. Just so he could comfort this person ahead of time. He hugged the smaller man and exclaimed, "You little alien, let me into your world."
