With all the activity around the school, it's hard to believe these halls were empty only a week ago... it's like the boys never left. If only the same could be said for their brains: I'm very much of the suspicion those are still on holiday.
There really is nothing like the first few days back to really humble a teacher and remind him 80% of the things he teaches his students never make it into long-term memory. One of my students actually came to my class with a wrinkled scarf... wrinkled! I think I nearly fainted. As for the proper way to tie a basic manscarf? Some of the students had to ask which side to start with... those scarves are squares, it doesn't matter! >_>
As much as I love my students (because I really do... honestly!), sometimes I really am at my wit's end with their non-existent attention-span. I've known goldfish with better concentration.
Alas, I simply must strip these problematic behaviours from them before month's end, one way or another.
Not everything has been a disaster, however. Some of my more studious students have come to ask me about more... challenging techniques and I have been all to happy to sate their... curiosity. I do hope such enthusiasm continues.
All things considered, however, I think I've had a very successful few days If I didn't know any better, I'd think manscarf appreciation around this school is at an all-time high.
Note: I think I'm going to have to get myself a better day planner. My schedule is getting away from me and I would be loathe to miss an important meeting.
