Early week update.

A little miffed - but more saddened - by what's unfolding on the Koch Fellows 2004 blog. Proof positive that both liberals and conservatives can succumb to mindless mob-think, not to mention be complete assholes. (Sorry cabrutus .) You're in my thoughts, Sara! Ride this one out.

What else did I want to talk about? Oh, yeah. If you're likewise stuck in the graduate school application preparation quagmire, contacting potential advisors at the programs you're interested is recommended by some. But be prepared to receive some disappointingly terse responses, and feel as if you've accomplished little. I received e-mail replies from the Arizona and MIT faculty I contacted (who were both very congenial) but I have yet to receive a response from my top choice at Rutgers. I guess I expected a little more back-and-forth between us.

The faux Talking Heads gig went extremely well, except for a set-stopping glitch with the direct output on Natalie's (per force)borrowed bass amp. We completely packed out a post-game Tasty World! Apparently, some 90.5 WUOG DJ also caught wind of the show, and began giving away tickets to the show on-air. [Which was very strange, since there was no cover.]

I can't wait to play downtown again. Playing at fraternity houses earn us massive amounts of money, but no amount can replace looking down at both the random and known shaking their assess off in front of me. Now that we have a great reference with the Tasty World owners and some others, maybe my life-long dream of opening for the Krush Girls will finally come to fruition! A boy can only dream.

I'm glad that only invited a few close friend to the show. The habit is to call everyone in my cell phonebook, which ultimately just results in a socially awkward situation afterwards. By that time I have been left a mumble-mouth introvert (i.e. I have been returned to normal), and in my haze I end up blowing off a bunch of friends I should be utterly gushing over. After all, most of them sacrificed some exciting shit-faced adventures elsewhere to see me cavort around onstage for a solid hour. But this time I showed restraint, and had the best time dancing to Jimi Hendrix with my dinner party yuppies until the end of the night. Stand next to the fire...

I go now. Stuff to do.
