School Stuff

Things have been going okay lately. I managed to Ace the Writing/English portion of the COMPASS test to get into college. I also got 96 out of 99 on the Reading Comprehension section, and 69 out of ?? on the Algebra portion of the test (I have no clue what the upper limit was on it, but 40 was the Exit score to stay out of remedial classes) and my additional score of 24 on the College Algebra section means I might get to test out of Math 101 and skip to Math 102. I got my acceptance letter today from the school. Thankfully my brother and I both managed to get into the last open seats in the REQUIRED Orientation and Registration. It sucks that it is at 8:45am on a Saturday, but still, it could have been worse.

Once I am actually registered for classes, I can apply for any part time jobs the school has to make a little money for gas and of course BOOKS. Some really wonderful people have helped me out in the petrol department to keep me travelling to see them every weekend.

Birthday Stuff

Well I am not really one for celebrating my birthday. To me it is just another day. But I had two people in my life who care enough about me that they threw me a very nice party. My best friend provided the location (her house), made most of the food, and stocked her bar with some stuff just for me to be able to have the drinks I wanted. My wonderful girlfriend was the Hostess, and managed to pull quite a few attendees to the party. Some drove 2+ hours to be there, and then drove back that night. (But none of them drunk) Our friend, whom I'll simply refer to at the moment as "Kermit" because of the his voice was described to me before I met him, had never baked anything in his life. Under some verbal direction and light supervision made my birthday cake, a Red Velvet cake. From scratch. And it turned out PERFECT. I mean I was still having some 2 days later it was so good. I got to play a little Halo 2 with some really great players in some VS setups.

I was given a few nice presents on my birthday. I got the next 2 books from Terry Goodkind that I needed, and I got 2 $20 gift cards to Walmart. I used one of them for $15 in gas, and the other $5 on some nice Koss headphones which I have been listening to alot lately. When I say nice, I've had $20+ headphones that didn't sound this good, and they have a Lifetime Warranty for which I have already registered. I went looking for the "All in one" box for the original Half-Life with TFC and CS, but could not find it. I also could not find a copy of MaximumPC in any of the 3 stores I went to. I'll keep looking though.

Other Stuff

I am making headway, slowly it seems, on my ToDo list as Webmaster for the radio station my friend owns. It is all volunteer work, and I know I miss things from time to time. Or that they slip. But I do feel really bad about it and try to get it fixed as soon as possible. For a lot of it I am stumbling around in the dark without much help or guidance. But I think I am doing pretty good with what I have. I guess I'll be looking for some feedback soon from the others at the station. For now I'll keep forging ahead with what I have to do, and update my List as needed.

I also have the first 7 episodes of BattleStar Galactica on the computer. The TV ads make it seem (and it may be so) that the SciFi Channel is footing the bill on this show, yet it won't air here on that channel until next month, and here I already have TV rips of 2 months worth of shows. Same goes for Stargate: Atlantis, as I have 4 episodes of it from overseas, and it still doesn't have any ads running for when it should be airing here.

Anime I've been keeping up with recently: InitialD: Fourth Stage, Beet the Vandel Buster, To Heart Remember My Memories, Gankutsuou, and Harukanaru Toki No Naka De. Gankutsuou has a really cool visual aspect with the paterns of people's clothes and such. It is kind of like the pattern is stationary, and the outlines/lines that make up the characters simply move across the surface of it. That isn't a good way of describing it, but it is the best I can do. If you get the chance, take a look at an episode, it is worth seeing the visual style.
