So today started okay. I got up quite a bit later than usual, partly due to a dream that was pretty real that I had already started my day. Anyway, I coaxed my car along the drive in to work from Athens, without too much trouble. My friend, doing the right thing for his family cleaned out his desk to quit today, so he may go in search of gainful employment to feed his family. He was the one who put in a good word for me to get me the "job" I've been working for a pittance trying to stay with it till the IPO and real money started comming in. The boss, hurt by the departure of my friend turned into a total bastard and fired me as well. He called me outside to talk, and requested my Company Keys and gas card, reached out and shook my hand as if that made things okay, and went inside, locking the door behind him. I knocked on the door and asked him if I could get my personal belongings. He said to send him a list and arrange to pick it up later in the week. He begrudgingly did retrieve my personal cell phone from my desk when requested. He unlocked the door long enough to drop the phone in my hand, almost making me drop it and locked the door back quickly. Like I was going to beat his ass down or go on a rampage through the office.
I can see, by this man's choices, why his usual turnover rate of employees is about a year. I was going to go on working, at least for a bit, even with my friend gone. Then the old man has to pull this crap. All my software CD's are in my cases, in the office. All my audio CDs are the same, as well as my computer reference books. And even a computer I own. Like the usual managers I have worked with, he could have told me I was fired and had me turn in my keys and such, then watched over me as I removed my personal belongings to say a rolling cart, and then let me wheel it out to my car and return the cart to them, no sweat.
This guy wants the "control" over me, even though i don't work there anymore to make me have to come to him to get my own possesions. I mean we have had people leave before, and he let them take thier stuff out. He also made the mistake of letting them do a little "work" on the computer before they got out of there. I could have given a care for pretty much anything except my own stuff. Hell, I'd pull the power out of the back of the computers first, without touching the keyboard or mouse, then get on with grabbing my stuff. That way there would be no problems.
This whole thing has nothing to do with my friend, but with the Old Bastard who runs that company. He berates most of the suppliers who come in there to work with us, not only in person, but on the phone. He calls it "grinding on them." More like grating on thier damn last nerve. The man thinks Iron John (which I have never read, and never intend to now) holds the answers to everything. I don't care about the 3 bloody horses, what color they are, or what the hell they represent. I just want him to get to the point in plain English (American or the Queen's, it doesn't matter) and say what he has to say. Today was pretty plain, with what he said and what he didn't. He would fuss to me about my ex being "sadistic" and trying to inflict her pain on others, and how wrong it is. Then he goes and has to inflict his pain on myself and another guy who worked there part time by firing us. What a hypocrite. Once I get my stuff back I don't care if he goes and jumps off a cliff. Right now I have stock not even worth the paper it is printed on until the company gets the SEC approval to sell stock to the public. At that point, I'll probably sell all my shares to someone for thier opening price value and be done with it all.
