Sakurai Sho woke up that morning especially tired. Since he got home so late, his homework was not done until even later, and then he woke up early due to butterflies in his stomach.
'What am I, six years old? It's just an after school activity.'
The senior tried his best to go back to sleep, however he could not, so he grumbled and threw himself out of his futon and ironed his uniform, blinking frequently to make sure he did not burn it. Once that was done he did mindless house chores for the next half hour, until the time he was supposed to wake up, and then began his routine. He made sure he had his cell phone and his lunch money before saying goodbye to his family and leaving his house, shivering as a cool gust of November air hit his figure. His walk to school was, again, uneventful, but upon his arrival things took a turn for the better. Everyone was crowded around the bulletin board, which meant something had happened. It was another solid white sheet of paper with the typical black print, but they held very important information. On that sheet of paper was the list of accepted players of the high school basketball team. Sakurai moved to the front of the herd of mostly girls and smiled as he scanned the list. There it read:
Team Manager
櫻井翔
His brown eyes lit up; hearing it from the coach and having it officially printed were two completely different things. He turned around rapidly, a grin plastered on his face still, until he felt something, better yet someone, very close to him. He had turned directly into someone! Sho reached his arms out to catch the person, and ended up catching their shoulder blades, while the person whose face he still had yet to register was clinging on to his upper arms as well.
'This person is really lite, she must be a girl,' Sakurai thought, noticing the eyes of the student in his arms were a very familiar light brown. Everything clicked.
“Ni...no?”
“Nice catch. Sure you shouldn't have waited and gone out for baseball?”
Sakurai blushed and helped the younger male stand up, trying to straighten the arms of the freshman's uniform.
“It's fine. I rarely iron this thing, anyway. What were you doing up here,” asked Ninomiya, glancing around the taller senior's head to take a glimpse at the white paper.
“J-just checking on my position. Why are you here,” he retorted, legitimately curious about his presence at the bulletin board.
“I wanted to know if MatsuJun made it. He might get too cocky and not check, so at least I should know, right?”
“How cute,” Sho muttered before he could stop himself; his inner filter must not have been working properly.
“What's cute?”
“You...and Matsumoto-san. The two of you are really close. It's, um, cute,” the thought itself was hard to explain, but Sho thought that would be the best way to say it. It must have been, for Ninomiya graced him with a bright smile.
“We are close. He's the only friend I have. Well, except for Aiba,” Kazunari stated, his smile bright but his voice a bit melancholic.
“What about me?” Sakurai tried, hoping to lift the other male's spirits some. The young man suited the sad look, but being happy just suited him more.
“Yeah, but we just met. Unlike the other two, you haven't proven you love me yet,” Nino taunted, enjoying the slightly horrified look on Sho's face.
“I haven't...what?”
“You just caught me, but that isn't enough. That's your job. For us to be friends, prove that you want me,” Nino finished, turning to walk away. He stopped mid step before turning around sheepishly.
“Er, that is, me to be your friend, anyway,” the first year added before walking away, calling “MatsuJun, MatsuJun!” down the halls. Sakurai wondered if his glasses were really good enough to have seen the board from his position when he read it. The male shook his head, wondering if every encounter with Ninomiya would be strange like that, before turning to go to the art room. He did need to check on Ohno, after all.
Of course, the older of the two third years was present, this time sculpting something. Sakurai couldn't tell from the doorway.
“Ohno-san It-”
“No.”
Sho was puzzled, wondering what the other student could be refusing.
“But we'll be late if-”
“No. Not that,” he looked up from his artwork, staring right into Sakurai's eyes, “What did you call me?”
Sho sighed mentally. He forgot all about that.
“It's hard for me to call you anything except Ohno-san...” Sho tried to explain, although apparently, that was not a good enough explanation. Ohno, for once, put down his piece of art and walked over to him. Sakurai, feeling a bit nervous, tried to back away, but the door was closed behind him. Ohno met him, toe to toe just like the had done before. Sakurai felt his chin being cupped by the other student's, still clay-scented, hand, his long fingers pressing into the flesh around his mouth.
“Sa-to-shi,” he said, trying to force Sakurai's mouth to move at the same time as he spoke, “isn't hard to say.”
Sho couldn't help but smile at the older male's joke, and Ohno smiled with him, backing away and lowering his hand.
“Okay, but we still have to go to class now, Sa-Satoshi-cha-chan.” It was difficult for him, he had never been that close with anyone to seriously call them by their given name, especially not using the suffix “-chan”, but it satisfied Ohno, who grabbed his things immediately and pulled Sakurai out of the door behind him, Sho wondering how the grip on his wrist could be forceful, but still not actually hurting him.
.:.
It was during his lunch break, where Satoshi now came to his classroom to eat with him, that he met with Aiba again that day.
“Ah, Captain! And Sakurai-kun!”
All of the students that remained inside the classroom turned to look at the tall student, who was definitely not a third year, that entered the classroom so loudly. He was all smiles, as usual, and Sho could not even manage to be irritated.
“You're not eating, Aiba-san?” Sakurai inquired politely, not seeing a lunchbox in the hands of the other male.
“I already ate,” he replied, still a bit loudly, and Sho was astonished how he could have finished anything that quickly.
“But I need to talk to Captain about our new team,”
'And that is what he feels should be whispered? He really is an interesting person. Albeit strange, still.'
Ohno did not speak, but just graced him with a look, showing that he was listening to the conversation that was about to take place.
“I might have found our other 10 boys!”
Even Sho turned to look at this statement, since he was planning on just ignoring their conversation because it had nothing to do with him. How had he already found enough people to make the entire team in that amount of time?!
“They don't go to this school, but to the middle school, and they all aren't the same age, but I'm pretty sure they all know each other already. I can introduce you today or tomorrow! If the school approves it, we could be ready by the team's first game! And if you approve it- Sakurai-kun!”
“Y-yes!” Sho responded, the surprising, immediate change of topic spooking him.
“When is the team's first game?”
“.....I....I'm not sure,” he offered tentatively, not having been informed on any game dates. He just assumed he would get all of that information one week in advance and be okay with that.
“That doesn't help! Isn't that your job? You deserve a punishment game, Sakurai-kun,”
He didn't want to ask the brown-eyed young man what a punishment game was, but he figured if the other really wanted to talk about it, he would explain on his own. Which he did, going so far as to move his chair directly next to Sho's to explain it.
“There are lots of punishment games, Sakurai-kun. You might have to wear black make-up around your eyes and look like a panda, or wear a t-shirt that reveals your nipples, or maybe something even better that I can come up with. I bet you would be hot with your belly button pierced.”
Aiba actually, legitimately whispered this time, very close to Sho's ear, and it turned his face a bright red, even before he started talking. Once he reached 'better', Sakurai could only mumble incoherent words for lack of response. Masaki, however, just giggled and move his chair back to its original position, beginning to talk to Ohno again.
“Don't you think Sakurai-kun would look hot with a belly button piercing?”
The scholarly senior's face just got redder when Ohno nodded, whether the oldest had truly been listening or not.

Author's Notes: I think I just like hinting to a ridiculous amount of pairings in every chapter. It really is entertaining to write. XD But first and foremost:
I am SUPER sorry about not updating last Saturday. The chapter wasn't done and then I never could manage to finish it that weekend because I had a research paper due on Monday. This chapter is only being posted on Friday because once I leave for school (in 2 and ½ hours), I won't be home until Sunday. So no laptop. T-T But this is the update, one week late and on day early! It isn't the best, but there's hinted Sakuraiba to make up for it! I wonder if Sho knows how unheterosexual he acts around the others. =P I'm super excited to bring in the cheerleaders. ^ - ^ And the basketball team. I have to figure out who the rest of them are, though....but either way it will be fun! Thank you all for reading with me, still, I really appreciate it! Please stick with me through this very busy month. I love you all!
