In my English PACE (I took the test for it today and got a hundred! YES!!!) I had to write a three hundred word story about how some food was invented or how some invention came to be. They said I could base my story off fact or just be creative. I went for both.
And here's the result! This is pretty much how this food came to be, though I did take some poetic license with it.

Once upon a time, there was an individual (we shall call her Mrs. Rumplesnifumple) who needed chocolate. Not just any chocolate, though: this esteemed lady (Mrs. Rumplesnifumple, if you have forgotten) needed nothing less than baker's chocolate. This chocolate was a key ingredient for chocolate cookies, which this lovely lady planned to bake for reasons we may never remember. The dear woman (Mrs. Rumplesnifumple, such a melodic name!) knew that when one added baker's chocolate to cookie dough and baked the two, the baker's chocolate would melt and thus permeate the dough, causing the cookies to become chocolatey morsels of delight.
Something was amiss in the world of this most revered lady (Mrs. Rumplesnifumple, oh the name is a joy for both tongue and ear!), however. Though this worthy woman (Mrs. Rumplesnifumple, a name never to be matched!) searched high and low, near and far, hither and yon, she could not find any baker's chocolate! It seemed that every store she visited was sold out of this most necessary item! What was this most resourceful woman (dear Mrs. Rumplesnifumple!) to do?
Though every store, supermarket, and back-alley bakery was out of baker's chocolate, none were running low on ordinary chocolate. So it was to this item, this untested variable of the food world and all culinary sciences, that our own most beloved lady (clever Mrs. Rumplesnifumple!) turned, buying a goodly amount of the stuff to take home and add to her dough, assuming its behavior would be the same as baker's chocolate.
The esteemed lady (Mrs. Rumplesnifumple, a role model for us all.) broke the chocolate into small pieces and scattered it through the dough, placing the mix in the oven to bake to lovely perfection.
Thus was born not only the chocolate chip cookie, but also the Tollhouse Cookie brand.
^O^
Abrupt ending I know, but I'd hit the three hundred word limit so I couldn't elaborate on anything. I got my teachers to laugh, though!
