Paper Bowls (How to make them)

Jul 10, 2015 23:19

1) I cover my desk/work area with old sales papers so I don't get glue on my desk. I use a skewer (you can use that or a straw or pencil ect) to roll the paper on. Glue the paper corner down. Remember to remove skewer.

2) Tube of rolled paper.

3) Flatten the rolled paper.

4) Glue the inside of the flattend roll. Usually flattening it will curl it, go with this.

5) Begin curl or add to curl of paper. Do not make ends meet. Always stagger ends like bricks to prevent joint compromise. Keep flat until you are advancing up the sides of your bowl.

6) This is where it gets tricky. To begin the sides of your bowl you put glue on the bottom half of your flattened tube and put half on, half above the flat base disk. Do this each following strip of paper. Try to keep it as level as possible and remember to stagger the joints.

7) To make bowl stronger, cut a flattened tube into fourths then glue to the inside of the walls of the bowl.

8) Remember to try to keep each row level and never stack the joints!

9) 9) If you want to make a taller bowl or a vase, just add another quarter strip beside each four already there. Do not but ends or have them even.
