Shawnee Eat Local! Farmers' Expo a Smashing Success (despite Old Man Winter's best efforts)

If you can't make it to next Saturday's Expo in Independence, you might consider looking into the workshops being hosted throughout the rest of this year by Badseed Market ( see details here ). Also, there's the biennial Urban Farms Tour in June, hosted by the KCCUA. The actual farms tour is on Sunday, 6/28, and there's a week of events relating to local food preceding the tour.
If you're looking to join a CSA, there are still several farms with shares available. Check out the KC CSA Coalition's website and contact those farmers whose CSAs appeal to you! Some of the KCCSAC's farmers will be at the Independence Expo as well, and would be glad to chat with you and answer any questions you might have.

I hope that helps; even if a person lives in an apartment and/or can't grow his/her own food, there is an ever-expanding number of opportunities to eat local and support our hardworking local, sustainable farmers! :)
