Peculiar, Missouri is a twenty to thirty minute drive south from Kansas City, Missouri or Johnson County, Kansas. What's in Peculiar? The beginnings of the Downtown Peculiar Arts and Culture District ... we've been working together for two years and have accomplished a lot.

Right now we are looking for artists (visual, performance art, musicians) to participate in a summer art festival.
http://www.downtownpeculiar.com/clara_brierly.cfm Booth size and fee: 10x10 - $75.00, Electricity fee (if needed) - $20.00.
Membership in DPACD is not required of course, but it is only $20, and just $10 for students. With membership, you get the standard stuff, the possibility of showing your art in our gallery space, plus discounted prices if you participate in events like the art festival. (We're a federally recognized not for profit group, so your membership fee is tax deductible.) I should mention that I used the gallery to have my first show, sold some art, got publicity, and got lots of support from the other artists in the group. Others who have had shows there have been more seasoned artists than I, so there's quite a bit of variety.
We also are hosting a banner contest in conjunction with the art festival. There is a hundred dollar prize offered, too. There's more info on the website.
Oh, and there's an art auction and dinner next weekend. We have art donated from all over the US and two other countries. No bids will be over three dollars! (It's a raffle more than an auction.)
