Non-lucid, little recall: Driving, Library

Nov 03, 2010 18:52

I do not recall the beginning of the dream well, but I was in a house and realized that I had to go to library for something. There was some kind of silver boomerang shaped object of great importance there; it was the beginning and end of a certain sequence. So, I went out and got in my dad's old Monte Carlo and began driving towards the town in question. I was driving on the right side of the car here. I felt that there may have been someone with me in the car, perhaps my mother, but she was not very solid; it was just the feeling. We came up to the first intersection on our way there, and I went to push on the break, with no effect. Thinking quickly, I open the door and put my foot down, which was actually rather effective. The car was rather light, in retrospect.

While this did not stop us completely, it allowed me to make the turn without trouble, and we continued on our way. As we came into town, someone in a pizza delivery car passed us and pulled into the ice cream shop just over the train tracks on the other side of the intersection that we were coming up to. I pushed on the brakes as hard as I could, but they did not nothing. So, I stuck my foot out again, but to no avail. We continued right on through the intersection, and I just barely missed a car that sped through and them had to make a sharp left turn on the middle of the four-way stop to avoid hitting another. I finally got through the intersection and over the tracks, and I pulled into the ice cream shop's parking lot, sticking my foot down hard and forcing the car to pivot on it and stop diagonally , taking up most of the space. Being fed up with the car by now, I went to step out, but as soon as I did it tried to jump forward, and I had to sit back down in it. I eventually turned the key to off and got out of it, and saw that the pizza delivery man was having the same problem, and so turned his off, as well. He seemed to understand the situation with my car well enough, and offered me a ride to the library, though it was less than a mile down the road. I agreed, but as soon as I did he pulled off in the opposite direction, so I had him drop me off at the tracks. I would be walking there.

I was about half-way to the library when I thought that I could take a shortcut through a large building that would lead me straight there. Soon after going in, however, it became apparent that this was a delusion, and that I was walking far more than I would have. had I stayed on the road. I kept going in the direction of library, up and down, and all around, until I ran into Henry somewhere close to the exit. He said that we had some kind of game planned today, and that it was about time to go. I walked with him until I was woken up by my mother.
