Summary: Allen's owed Dre a day of having a good time for a long time now. And look, he's not dead anymore. Cue bonding?
Standing in the entryway of his house and buttoning the last clasp on his collar shut, Allen glanced reflexively at his left hand as he did so. It was... strange being uniformed, being anything dressed outside of battle and having his gloves off. Not that he had any, not anymore after Lavi had burnt his... Well. He'd have to get some again.
Not that he found it strange to himself; it wasn't even that he was self-conscious about it like he used to be. Just... he always wore gloves. Always. Catching sight of the somewhat inhuman, black and gauntlet-style hand with the green cross embedded in it-
... He smiled vaguely and let his hands drop. It went with the coat. But he'd still get some gloves because that's also part of who he was.
But he'd promised Dre that he would spend today with him... had promised that a long time ago, actually. Too long, and it bothered him that it had taken so long to do anything more than see each other on the network and in passing at home or around Hisato. ... Took coming back from death, really.
... Actually, how well did he even know the younger boy? The thought bothered him a bit. He should know better, shouldn't he? And after all this, it felt like he had been breaking his promises...
...No, actually it bothered him that... dying and leaving him for so long. Leaving all of them; it felt like breaking a promise only a lot worse. It hadn't just been dying, had been what he had thought he wanted; returning home...
Hesitating for a moment, he clenched his jaw briefly before pushing it from his mind and sliding the door outside open, a smile on his face the instant he did so. Not fake; almost never fake... just forcing himself to believe this for now and setting this day aside for Dre. He was back now and he was going to keep his promises.
And after all. How hard could a day of 'having a good time' be?
