Rating: I doubt this would have any reason to go over PG, unless Gau looses his temper. Again.
[Any other night and Raikou could appreciate the cloudless night sky, or the way the stars shine against the velvet black and the moon glows with an iridescent beauty, bright here in a way he’s never seen in Tokyo.
There, there’d been too many building bright with neon lights and cars to let one admire the simple beauty of a clear summer night.
And here, there is too much worry for his cousin and their dying friend to take the time to appreciate the gift that surrounds them.
Time and again, he reminds himself to keep a steady pace, to not give in to the impatience he can feel thrumming through his very being now that they were so close to finding their wayward friends - to not leave Gau by running at a pace his partner isn’t capable of matching.
Until finally, they enter Kusasato and slow down to a walk. Few words pass between the lovers as they make their way to Ukitake’s door, they aren’t needed between them for the moment as their goal is the same, if not the reasons: Bring Yoite home.
I almost failed you Yukimi…Would you have forgiven me if he’d died alone somewhere? Am I doing the right thing, disregarding his wishes like this?
Question after question circles his mind, unasked and unanswered, as they step up to the door. Habit has him reaching forward and rapping sharply, a half-step in front of Gau as he waits for the man who’d called them to answer.]
