[ The silence of the land is both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, the incessant chirping of crickets the only sound to be heard around for months. C.C. is still in the unforgiving humidity of the afternoon as she waits, resting under the shade of the tree.
It gives her time to collect her thoughts, as she rests her chin on a raised knee, blankly contemplating a rabbit that had pushed through the grass not too far away, grazing and paying no attention to her existence at all.
Not that she minds, really. Knowing Lelouch, she won't have long to wait - after all, this is essentially another world, and a month here means too many unexplored variables and risks still. Nonetheless, she gets to her feet, deciding to explore the area before he arrives (after all, she's no weakling, when she puts her mind to it).
But before she can get too far, the soundwhirr of heavy steel made to move at too-fast speeds. Seconds later, a Sutherland pulls up a few yards away, a familiar form emerging from the immense machine
( ... )
[ Lelouch catches a movement in the tall grasses a bit farther away, and moves towards them. Eventually, C.C. emerges out of them, her hair blending in with the rest of the foliage, as if she was simply born out of the landscape. A nymph or dryad, something mythical and difficult to understand.
Lelouch lets out a sigh that is more exasperated than relieved. ]
Is this any way to greet a person you haven't seen in a month?
[ C.C. asks him mildly - it's more a rhetorical question than anything, and she graces him with a quirk of her lips. Of course, for her - she had seen him only a couple of hours prior. (She doesn't think that she would voluntarily leave him alone for that long a time - they had a contract, after all.)
And speaking of leaving him alone - it all still doesn't make much sense to her, and she wonders bleakly at it before she closes the distance between them. At least here, the exasperation, the look in his eyes is still the same.
It's still the same Lelouch.
Has he missed her? She wonders briefly to herself as she approaches. Does it matter? ]
[ She's the same. It's almost a comfort how constant C.C. is, even though her personality can be considered anything but constant. She's at least consistently inconstant, sometimes sympathetic, usually irritating, and always, always inscrutable. In short, she's C.C.
Has he missed her? It depends on your definition of "miss." ]
We're -
[ Wait, are they going anywhere yet? She still hasn't been filled in on what's going on. ]
Not yet.
This world is called "Kannagara." I've been here for a month - some have been here longer, and some arrived after I did. Not all of us are from the same...world, or "reality" if you like, and some from the same reality still don't come from the same time.
So.
What's the last thing that happened before you got here?
