The toss had been perfect. Light's lasso spinning in the air, gradually floating over her head to finally secure her around the neck.
It had been that easy. Her kid hadn't even startled.
L breaks the silence with an inhalation, and "Well, it appears you've got your goat." He doubts the goat will come willingly, but it's worth a try, and so wielding alfalfa, rope slung over his shoulder, L leans closer to offer the sweet hay.
And is astounded by the goat's behavior. She nuzzles the plant curiously, with no visible fear. If they can lead her back to her new home, her kid will follow.
It's an auspicious beginning.
More alfalfa and another batch -- she chews, content. Her kid sniffs, at L's feet first to move on to Light's. While improbable, it isn't impossible to consider it. L watches the mother, reaches out, allowing her the chance to taste his scent. It's exciting for L, who has never had a true home, never had a pet. Gaze solely on the creature before him, he speaks over his shoulder. "It may be possible to lead her back. She's not afraid, and if she does, indeed, panic. Well, then we can tie her."
