His eyes flickered briefly toward L, and then back to their prey. It was...amusing seeing him at work on something that wasn't an investigation, and it gave Light more comprehension of how to work with him otherwise. Keeping control, between them, of a situation that was so domestic, would be easier than he had thought.
And when he controlled every aspect of L's life... Well. He would have won. Conquering him physically was key, in many ways. More importantly, having L rely on him for food-- It would all come together just as planned, so long as he was most careful in his approach. Slow attrition; killing with kindness.

The nanny goat froze, four feet planted into the ground, more surprised by their appearance than frightened. They had her -- he was sure of it. He threw the rope for her neck, relying on L to keep hold of his end if she started away suddenly.
