Late at night after everyone's asleepmisfortunesfoolDecember 16 2011, 05:00:03 UTC
...why am I not surprised to find you like that?
[Yuui sighs softly and crouches down as he peers under the engawa, rests his chin on his knee even as he stretches out a hand. A small, humorless smile touches his lips as he watches the little kitten with solemn eyes.]
You knew this would happen, didn't you... Vincent. Well? Come on out now.

[He had hoped not to be found out. He could disappear for a few days, pretend it was just stress over his brother's death. He could just... wander around in the woods or find someone who wouldn't know to bother.
But.
To be honest, Vincent hadn't been able to resist coming home. Because the people here were the ones who had supported him so much, and he felt lonely immediately, without them. Felt like a traitor to everyone, on every side, for having taken steps that might destroy everything.
Since when had these things mattered to him? Since when had anything but Gil... and Elliot more recently... mattered to him?
... not until this man.
Vincent turns eyes that he himself doesn't yet know are blue toward his friend, meows softly, and slowly creeps a little closer, his body low to the ground and his claws clutching a little at grass.]
[It's the sight of those eyes that pulls a smile out of Yuui, even as he reaches out with gentle hands and deftly lifts his friend to cradle against his chest. Long fingers smooth through soft fur as Yuui shakes his head.]
Blue eyes, hm? Maybe the gods support my claim. Think we'll get to keep you as a Flourite, or will you become a Nightray again in a few days, I wonder.
[He sighs at that and brushes his cheek across pale whiskers, because he knows saying such things is unfair to his friend. He can see the shifting tides of Vincent's loyalties in rare moments and in truth... Yuui would just like to see him happy. Valued as he should be, despite the current situation.]
I know, I know, that's not very nice of me. C'mon, my friend. Let's get you inside and warm. I'll figure out what to tell Fai later.
[The words had left Vincent quite tempted to scratch or bite, for a moment. Because, no, it wasn't fair.
It wasn't fair at all. Because here he had a home where he was treasured and cared for, where he felt like he had a proper chance of being seen just for himself. And yet... as soon as he'd heard something had happened to Gilbert... it had broken him all the same.
Some bonds he could never break.
Yuui's apology was enough to get him away without any missing skin, and actually... Vincent didn't have the energy at the moment to fight. Besides, at least now...
He could guarantee he'd be cared for, which was something no one else in this world (or any other) had offered for free, like that.
In the end, he turned his head and bumped it against Yuui's cheek, lapped at it with his little kitten tongue.]
[A small, affectionate smile curves Yuui's lips at that, before he runs gentle fingertips along the back of Vincent's head, down his spine. Without another word, he steps them up onto the engawa, then pads down to the room he shares with his brother, moves to slip back into the bed there - all without letting go of his friend.]
Alright, Kitty. Lets get some rest, alright? Promise to stay in here, with us, until morning?
