I was just speaking to him as well.

[Gau pressed a kiss to Raikou's cheek now that they have stopped moving, and then slips away, turns to reach for his gamon.]

They can finish up what I was doing, it won't be a problem. Ready to go in the oven anyway.

[Sure, he'd rather finish it himself, but this is strange enough that it might be more important.]

[Raikou watches Gau for a moment as he lifts that ash-gray katana, slips it into place, and for a moment, all he can do is smile - because he’d meant those words about the bearer of that sword. In many ways, Gau was instinctively stronger than Raikou. He still had the ability to dazzle him and guide him, despite everything this place had done to them.

Which is why, as soon as the sword settles into place, Raikou catches his lover and spins him around, plants a swift, firm kiss full of demand and affection on his lips, before pulling back just as quickly.

And then a smile and a wink, before he pulls Gau towards the back door.]

C’mon, lover. Let’s see about this person that knows us. Do you suppose he’s from one of those other realities? He might well be a friend of the ones like us that are engaged.

[He's not sure he wants to think about that, really. After all, that version of himself had been...quite different.

There are some parts of that person which he aspires to, if he's honest with himself, still.]

Do you really think he could be? Do you think he's... like that, then?

Who knows? I just know that he's not a part of our Nabari, or the other Nabari that I remember, so that can only mean an alternate timeline.

[Their steps through the village are quick, the path familiar as they speak. They've made this particular journey quite a few times by now - enough that it's become habit.

Which is why he leans back on the rail of the ferry, dark eyes amused as they cut from the choppy waves to meet verdant ones. A slow, teasing smile curved his lips as he leans closer.]

He's certainly quite attractive. Who knows, maybe in that world he is one of your subs... maybe I can get him to tell me all the stories.~
