As a matter of fact, he can't think of a moment in his life where he felt this warm.
Baby blue eyes blink open slowly, blearily, to focus with a sleepy sense of detachment on the familiar face reflected back before him and he can't help but think Fai looks much better this way - oh, he's still too skinny, but he look much better now than he did at the bottom of the pool....
So he snuggles in close, and squeezes the small hand in his - and then he freezes.
He draws a sharp breath, pure panic making his eyes go wide as the familiar feel of Fai's magic entwined with his along with the realization that he doesn't recognize this place at all. No snow or ice in sight, he's never seen so much green threatening him through the window.
He blinks rapidly a few times as the panic quickly gives way to relief, and then he throws himself down to practically tackle his twin as he burst into tears.]
Fai! Fai! So I'm dead too, right? I was so ( ... )

Wha? What? What's-?
[It was a rough enough waking that both he and his sobbing aggressor quickly slid the rest of the way to the floor, where Fai lay under his twin, stunned and staring. There was no mistaking it.]
Yuui? [He was small again! That he was crying as well, babbling some kind of ridiculous nonsense was only secondary and Fai burst into his own tears and clung there]
Yuui! No, no no, no, it's my fault too, I should have- please don't cry. I'm here, we're here together. I love you so much, Yuui.

[ He's crying harder now and clinging with a childish desperation to his brother, as if the meager strength in his frail form could convey the truth in his heart, as if to keep from being shoved away with this truth.]
A-and I was t-trying so hard, he said there was a way to bring you back! So I'm so-so sorry for dying before I could give you your life back, Fai. Please forgive me. Please

When he was grown, Yuui had done this, to comfort Fai after nightmares. Now he returned the favor, leaning his cheek against Yuui's temple to that he could whisper to him.]
Stop that! We're not dead. I don't know why, because I remember-- but we're not. Everyone says so. Before, it was different, but I've lived here, Yuui. And now we're together here again.
Of course I forgive you....if...if you forgive me?

[Sniffling, Yuui stays just like that a long moment, his fingers carefully twisting Fai's hair around the small digits as the storm of tears subsides with the forgiveness. He stays like that for a long moment, little hiccuping gasps slipping out of him as he tries to catch his breath, before he leans back enough to press an affectionate kiss to Fai's cheek.
And much like his twin has done to him - even if he can't remember right then - he lifts his hands to cup Fai's cheeks, meets red-limned eyes with matching ones as he smiles tremulously.]
...we're really not dead? And...are you happy here?
Reply
No. This is Kannagara country. I love it here.
[Oh that beautiful blue. Yuui's eyes, Yuui's power and smile.]
I'm happy, because you're here.

[A blink then as he smooths his hands over Fai's cheeks, as if petting reassuringly as his voice drops to a whisper.]
Are you sure it's safe for this place, if we stay?
[They're together now, his tone implies. They could leave and go wherever they wanted, so long as they were together.]

[The answering whisper is bright with delight. Thinking the same thoughts again, speaking with the same voice. Oh Yuui, I've missed you so.]
But the Kings and Queens here aren't just wizards or magicians-- or even sorceresses! They're like Gods. I don't think even twins like us can bring misfortune here.
[His hands mirror his twins, smoothing back Yuui's hair, then reaching, holding them together. A linked chain of fingers and fate between them.]
Some places, you can see the good luck in the air, like mist. It never even noticed I was there, it was so powerful. This is a safe place.

[The lingering hint of tears disappears entirely at that as Yuui's eyes brighten with a true joy. He can see it in his twin's eyes, feel the truth of his words through the bond of their magic.
He draws a deep breath before letting it out in one great sigh, as if a crippling weight was lifted off of him. And then he smiles, every bit of love and lost hope laid bare for him beloved other half to see as he whispers reverently.]
Then we're free, Fai. We're finally free.

It was, for a time, a peaceful, comforting silence. The sun rose outside, pressing golden fingerprints into the papery doors. Somewhere, a bird sang.]
In Kannagara country, there is no snow. [Fai began without hesitating, without thought, and it was a joy just to be sure of how his words would be received. To know Yuui's reaction by his own love.]
It's green outside. Grass grows everywhere. There are plants growing in the garden that we can eat without it being cooked. This is where I live, and it's made out of wood, from trees. I don't want to live in palaces anymore, Yuui.
[He was confident that Yuui would understand what he really meant; Fai didn't want to live between walls of stone ( ... )

[Nodding into his twin's touch, Yuui smiled and smoothed a hand gently over his brother's already mussed locks. He dropped his hands just long enough to lean in and wrap them around Fai's neck, just wanting the comfort of the contact as he rests his head against his brother's shoulder.
Because it didn't matter to him where they were or what the country was like, really - all that mattered was that Fai was happy there. So he smiled and twisted his fingers into the ends of his twin's hair at the nape of his neck. ]
We'll just stay here and eat the plants and live here and... what's grass?

[Here, Fai, Yuui is giving you a very childishly dubious look. Not because he doubts you at all, and the idea that Fai would ever lie to him has never even crossed his mind.
But ground fur?
He's not so sure this sounds like a good thing.
But Fai looks so excited that there's no way Yuui can say no, so he just grins brightly and nods enthusiastically because it's a wonderful, amazing, soul-lifting thing, to see his brother so alive again.]
Mmm! Yes please! Let's go see!
