The sudden sensation of being bodily rolled out of his bed, alone, has the samurai’s stomach lurching dangerously, the room spinning, and two kunai flying through the air towards the source of that far too loud voice ringing in his ears.
And as he ends up on his side, russet eyes slit open enough to confirm the fact that he was alone in bed, that the only other person in the room is Gau, and yes… he’d been foolish enough to argue over something so… idiotic… as sweaters enough to make his most important person leave him there.
This was not shaping up to be his best morning ever.
Bleary eyes close as Raikou simply rolls down to sprawl listlessly on his belly as he covers an ear.]
Go ‘way, Gau. Wait. He come home yet?

The temptation to send them launching right back at his partner is there, but instead Gau sets them down beside the flowers, puts both hands on his hips, and glares. ]
If he were here, do you think I'd be wasting my time dealing with you?
[Oh, he is mostly certainly not happy with his friend, not this morning. Because honestly, how much domestic drama do two idiot swordsmen need? Why can't Kanda and Raikou just get their shit together?
Kanda isn't there, and Gau isn't as close to him anyway, so Raikou can bear the brunt of his rage for them both.]
Didn't you always tell me that you have to be willing to face your mistakes head-on and move past them? What exactly good is it doing you to just get drunk and lay around being pathetic, Raikou!?
[Not -san, he hasn't been -san in years. That had died around the time Gau's crush on him did.]

[Why yes, that is a rather dry, sarcastic tone just for you as he winces.
Gau was always dependable for raising his voice several decibels higher than strictly necessary at the most inconvenient times... but really. He’s also as tenatious as a rat terrier when he’s stuck on something, and that something for the moment seems to be the mess his and Kanda’s stubbornness have landed them in.
Again.
Because he’s not sure why, but he has a feeling this isn’t the first time they’ve fought, nor will it be the last…
So he sighs, ignores his own words as they’re thrown back at him, and pushes up to sitting, the hand over his ear sliding through sleep-mussed cerise locks to rub slowly over his face as he mumbles.]
I was drinking because I was too angry to follow him last night. And I’m not ‘being pathetic’ - I was sleeping. ‘Sides… I know where he probably went so - so I was just giving both of us time to cool our tempers, alright?
[Tilting his head back, Raikou looks up and glares.]
Now, enough of the Spanish Inquisition already. Soon as I get rid of that stain on his stupid sweater, I’ll go fix this. If his stubborn self will listen.

He leans down again and starts folding up the bedding, just to be sure that Raikou doesn't get it in his head to go back to sleep.

All set out for you with the rest of the laundry, I already let it soak a bit in the stain remover, but you're going to have to wash it good... and no, I'm not doing it for you, I don't have time to clean up all your messes!
[Never mind that he's straightening your room while he talks.]
And I don't want to hear anything about whose fault it is or isn't, I want to see you doing something proactive about fixing it! And don't forget to take those flowers, and don't lose them on the way there this time...

[A faded, blurry memory to be sure, to which Raikou attributes to the alcohol. He eyes his partner’s neurotic helpful straightening of his room and sighs before staring at the flowers. Gau really had gone to a lot of effort to find such beautiful blooms.
He has no doubt that Kanda will like them.
And really, Gau’s right.
Rolling to his feet, Raikou straightens his sleep yukata and steps softly over to the bouquet, runs a finger over a silken petal with a small smile before he asks softly.]
I don’t mean to you know, but… he’s beautiful when he’s angry like that. I can’t seem to help it, teasing him sometimes, but… I don’t mean to hurt him, Gau. Why can’t I ever find that line?

[He puts the futon away, sweeps his eyes over the familiar form of his closest friend, and then leans back against the wall a little, sighing and slumping.]
I can't believe I ever had a crush on you, you know that?
[There's a wry smile on his lips, and he shakes his head.]
There's tea ready for you, and all you have to do is finish up with the sweater, so just get your ass out there and straighten things out, okay? You're my best friend, and I love you, and I'm tired of seeing you fuck things up.

I think I liked you better when you were a cute kid that never contradicted me, you know that? But…thanks, Gau.
[He snaps the lid down and spins on his heels, dark eyes bright as he grins a crooked grin - a look that clearly means he’s had an idea which meant more work for Gau.]
…do you think I have time to have you help me make him some soba or some tempura - or oh! Both? Food and flowers might at least let me get the foot in the door before he can get to Mugen out.

There's a half-second of a frown, but then it's gone because Gau is busy focusing on what's just been said.]
I don't have time to clean up all your messes!
[He doesn't! He has a family of his own to provide for, after all, and his own husbands will be wanting to be fed too!
But it's Raikou, so he can't just...]
I'll help you make it while I'm cooking everything else, you just get your lazy butt dressed...

Well, I didn’t ask you to cook it for me! Just to help. Otherwise I’ll burn something and that’d just do more harm than good, really.
[Even as he speaks, Raikou is reaching for the basket that holds his toiletries and gathering his clothes. His hand hovers over his own towel before stretching past, to snag Yu’s and he hopes Gau doesn’t say anything, because he knows it’s silly to want to use Kanda’s towel, but now that he’s properly awake, Raikou is determined.
He wants to get this part over with, and quickly. He wants to get over to the Exorcist compound and find his temperamental husband and fix this. And he wants to do that now.
But after he’s clean. Just yeah. ]
I’m going to go get clean and dressed down at Yu’s pool. Soon as I’m back we can get to the food and whatnot. I’ll be quick, Gau.

[There's fondness and exasperation in the tone, and really, he's not even going to comment on the towel, at this point.
After all, Gau is quite acquainted with the fact that Raikou is a dork. The man took him in when Gau was thirteen after all... didn't he?]
Go on, get clean, you smell like a bar.
[He holds open the curtain for Raikou, inclines his head.]

[There was laughter with the protest and as he passed by, Raikou shot out his free hand to ruffle Gau’s hair a bit just to mess with him before striding swiftly through the cave proper and out past the curtain entrance. Quick steps brought him down to the beach and around a bend in the shoreline, to a more secluded pool. The basket and his clothes were set neatly on a small ledge there before Raikou slipped off the yukata and sat on the small ‘seat’ where Kanda’s pool fed into the next lower one, his thoughts already turning the situation over in his head as he planned his attack.
Because in some cases, with certain people, that’s exactly what it was.]

And it guarantees that it's going to come out edible.
So by the time Raikou comes back in, he's got the tempura frying and the noodles already done, straining the water off over a pot.]
You just need to take that tempura up real quick and put it all in one of the containers, Raikou, it's all done for you...

Alright Gau! I’ll be right there.
[He disappeared into his room just long enough to store his things and grab a white double-buckle belt that he was almost sure was his (it might have been Kanda’s) and quickly threaded it through the loops, careful to leave enough room to tuck his gamon at his hip.
There’d only been a slight moment’s hesitation at that because it looked… odd. Lonely. Sitting in the stand without the other blade beside it. He shook the thought off and slid Shirogamon into place at his hip, then headed back into the kitchen, nimble fingers pulling the top half of his hair up to tie off with a red ribbon as he walked. He didn’t stop until he was standing before the stove, then reached for the nearest cooking utensil to start pulling the pieces out of the oil, setting them on the dripping rack.]
I keep saying it this morning, but really…thanks, Gau. All these years and I think I’d still be a bit lost without you!

Bending over the pool and cupping a some of the water in his hands, he rinsed his face, then straightened. He should be heading back... his husband didn't like it when he was late for breakfast.
Pulling on his shirt, he scrubbed at his still-damp hair with a bit of towel as he walked, carefully navigating the waterfall so he wouldn't get wet again.
He caught sight of the pink-haired man at the stove, his memory telling him it was a familiar person even if he couldn't seem to recall his name right now. His eye took in the rather amazing combination of colors the man was dressed in... had he gone out of his way to wear things painful to the eye?
Ginko chuckled a little at his words.] That's what I keep telling him.
[He gives Gau's hair a little friendly tweak as he moves over to where the younger man is sitting.] Yo.

[Gau grins brightly, reaches behind himself to grab at the older man's arms, tugging them down around himself and leaning his head against the white-haired man.]
I know, I know, everyone is always just lost without me! Breakfast is almost ready, really... I just had to help this idiot make something for his husband, but I promise the rest of us have a perfectly respectable breakfast going!
[He closes his eyes, though, turns his head to nuzzle at the man's forearm, his mind not even quite processing that he's not thinking of his 'husband' by name, ever...]
Which I'll take up in just a second... you smell good.
