[Yoite tucked a small package into his pocket, his birthday present for Lelouch. It wasn't much of course, and Yoite had had no idea what on Earth (or in Kannagara for that matter) someone gave for a birthday but he had done his best.
Turning then to gather up Bani-Allen, he exited his shrine and headed out towards the usual path he took when traveling to Raikou's cave. When Allen shifted nervously on his shoulder he gave an apologetic look. The rabbit still needed to get used to a much higher perch than before. But Yoite's reflexes were still fast as ever, so he would be certain that his companion would not fall.
Finally making it down the mountainside to the flatter slope to the beach, Yoite drew nearer to where he could see Gau and Raikou, only coming to stop, eyes wide, when he saw not just a cake, but also tables, and food.... for A LOT OF PEOPLE]
[Of course, Gau's attention is immediately caught as his friend appears. He jumps up and runs, sets the drinks he's carrying down on the table, and runs up to sweep his friend up in a hug.
Habit has him picking Yoite up a little, though it's quite a bit more difficult now than when his friend was short, and he laughs as he sets the taller boy back on his feet.]
[Yoite's cheeks flame brightly and he thanks the gods for the brim of his hat there to hide most of it as Gau does his best to lift him. And when he is on his feet again he smiles softly]
Arigatou, Gau-san.
[He looks around at all the food, stomach growling but he looks bashful]
Did you have to make all this? [He knows the answer. He does, considering Raikou would have never done it himself, but still, being so close to Gau..given everything thats happened between them...and everything that he wants to happen ahead of them...well he's not quite sure what else to say. But, even if all of those feelings of the heart are to be kept inside now, save for the ones for a best friend and his "mama", he can still marvel at Gau's hard work, can he not?]
[Yoite's lips quirk, knowing that Raikou probably had told Gau about the party perhaps an hour (if gau had been lucky) before it was supposed to happen.
And stumbling just a tad as he is nudged to the table he smiles at the cake, eyebrows arching a bit as a memory dances into his head. One of his newer memories. The closing of November... Yukimi's place...and now Yoite realizes for the first time HOW Gau had known this was his favorite cake.]
Just like Miharu's birthday cake [He murmurs, turning to smile at Gau softly] So I could smell it. [And that smile turned into a secretive giggle]
[Gau blinks a little, surprised at the mention of that. He's so used to the fact that their memories are different, and the idea that now they're... a little closer at least... well, it surprises him to realize it.
He blushes, remembering that even before they were close, he'd done that for Yoite. Because Yoite had saved his life, and he'd wanted to do something nice for him. Even if his 'thank you' hadn't come out quite right.]
Mmhmm, just like that.
[He smiles and slides an arm around Yoite, squeezes gently.]
I like making things you like. You do still like this kind, don't you? I could make something else next time if there's one you like better...
[There's a sadness there, because for all Gau knows, he will never see Miharu again. He isn't sure how to answer the question, really, considering that. Neither of them might ever see Miharu again, especially Yoite who... has nothing to go back to at all, now, does he?
But Yoite doesn't seem sad, not in the least. And so Gau smiles a little, nods, making Yoite's head move atop his own a little.]
[Yes, he knows he's never going back. He has no body there, no life - in the most literal sense. His existence there has been destroyed, erased, and parted from.
And that is okay.
He doesn't linger there. No grave marker to weigh in people's conscience. Just memories.]
You'll be there again someday, Gau-san. I know it.
[Blue eyes go wide and he just narrowly stops himself from asking 'What if Raikou-san went home with you too?'
He wants to ask. He does. And he wants to urge Gau and Raikou to return to the world they are from now that Yoite knows firsthand it is safe for them. But in this moment he can see that its not the time or the place to say that.

Well, I didn't know how many people were coming! I do wish I'd had more warning, but I did the best I could. Oh but...
[And he steps forward, pulling Yoite along with him, cuts a BIG piece of the special cake he's made for his friend.]
You have to have this first! Before anyone else gets any... it's the special vanilla kind you like!

[Gau says the words quietly, reaches up to set fingers against Yoite's hair, give a gentle little tug at the silky strands.]
I do miss Miharu-kun, and Thobari-sensei, and Hanabusa-san, and.. everyone. But it's not like... given the choice...
[He draws in a deep breath, reaches for one of Yoite's hands, folds it in his own gently.]
I want to be where Yoite-chan and Raikou are.
