He's been quiet since they started back. Partially because well, it's easier to fade into a mostly unconscious state; just blood rushing in his ears, strange thud of the heart lurching like it doesn't know how to move right, dizzy anyway from lack of air, try to let the panic and pain slip away with his thoughts until there's just a dull calm.

It feels like before. It feels like after Tyki had ripped his heart and left him to drown in his own blood.

It feels like dying. And yet...

This time someone's here; he's not left alone to bleed out in some forest.

It had been the loneliness that had been worst before; had been why he refused to leave Yoite alone to die.

He just never thought the person to come get him would have been his rat bastard master.

Rat bastard master whose clothes and hair he's getting dirty and Cross never lets anyone get his clothes and hair dirty. Allen knows this better than perhaps anyone. And yet... here he is, carrying him on his back without saying a word.

Really, beyond the fact talking isn't something he can really do very well right now... it's almost... it's almost like the silence is there to respect the magnitude of what that means.

Cross willingly got dirty to save him.

There's nothing Allen can say to that; just nod slightly and hold on as best he can, arms slung weakly over the bastard's shoulders.

And somehow it's also...  easier to be like this around Cross, too. Moreso than just about anyone else.

He doesn't have to worry about being strong and pretending he's fine for Cross's sake.

But from drifting and half-hallucinated thoughts, slipping together with reality before sliding away, he recognizes his name. Faint, like it's in his head. Feminine. Funny, like that other time. No, see, he's okay, really. "Len-"

He shifts a bit to look towards the voice, cracking his remaining eye open, then blinking it sluggishly as... Chrome? comes into focus.  Where were they? Were they back already? Why was she here?

Weak, but still a little surprised, he tries to raise his head. "Chrome?"
