Allen Walker may always be moving forward, but he'd never run so fast in his life before.

Nearly dropping the Hitomi again after having told Mana he was coming, fumbling and shoving it finally into his pocket, he'd start running (oh right- run back inside, grab his cloak, dash back out. ... run back a minute later and decide to change into actual clothes; grab the white shirt and red tie he'd wheedled into being made, it only seemed appropriate. forgot the cloak that time though but didn't care to go back again) without a heed towards Mizusato. It vaguely registered that somebody (somebodies?) had shouted after him, but at the chance it was Link...

No. He'd run off on his own before anyone could try to stop him or come along because that wasn't going to happen.

And it's half an hour. Half an hour to think and... it's too unreal to think about except for one thing:

Mana.

Timcanpy kept pace, flying by his ear; he didn't really notice the golem's worried glances either. The shock, the hurt at not being recognized... it was being replaced with an excitement that made his feet light and even so soon after being injured he wasn't breathless yet, the countryside passing in a blur. Mana was here and just like he remembered him.

... The good memory of him, that is.

About the time he got to the ferry landing he remembered right, the Ark, but it felt silly to use it then. ... In general, really. It felt strange to use it to pop anywhere not an emergency. Kind of... wrong.

And as he had stood at the prow of the boat when they did set across the channel, antsy, and began pulling on Timcanpy like a glorified stress ball, he'd realized something suddenly, looking down at the puffy-cheeked golem with a blink. "Tim - you've seen Mana before, haven't you?" Something his master had said; watching him and Mana with Timcanpy. Watched...

Letting Timcanpy go with a snap, Allen had held a hand subconsciously by his shoulder for the golem to nudge into for pats; but the creature hadn't, instead sulking on a far corner of his shoulder in a quiet manner.  And then - then it had dawned on Allen.

Tim, you didn't just watch and know Mana because my master sent you... If you belonged to the 14th and he and Mana were brothers-

Suddenly things had felt very complicated indeed, and when the boat landed he'd hesitated before stepping onto the pier.

But he had stepped forward.

Now as he approaches the village, the gates rising slowly in the mist, he takes a deep breath of the humid air and braces. Whatever happens...

Straightening the (very makeshift) string tie at his throat, he exhales and steps forward.

Whatever happens, he's ready for it. As ready as he ever can be at least.
