[B looks perfectly unpleasant in the video, his hollowed out eyes cast in blades of moonlight and his hair clinging like spiders to his face. Light considers the face - a face he himself ended - with the quiet detachment of a murderer to his victim. He doesn't particularly care that the man has seen his dream - what sense could it make to him - even though the weaknesses displayed there are long past him. He never doubted himself. Loneliness, bullying, he overcame them with his own personality and strength.

It made him the perfect murderer, and it made him capable, also, of handling almost anything, except perhaps senior, world renowned detectives throwing themselves at him. B doesn't frighten him; couldn't. He stops, fishing out the device, and regards him quietly for a moment, before pulling open the gate and stepping into the darkness.]

Whatever you think that means, you're mistaken. It's just a dream.

You, on the other hand... We never talked much before, but I know perfectly well who you are and what you've done. I won't be caught out. So tell me -- what do you think you saw?

Heh.

[It’s a reflexive response to the man’s inquiry and he rolls his head to the left and right, weighing, one of the few original habits he maintained (and would try to end were he more aware). Of course, he isn’t really contemplating an answer; clearly, his dear fellow murderer is unaware of blonds and their loose mouths. Though it seems blonds aren’t the only ones if this boy is aware.

Fuckin’ L gossiping at Wammy’s and then to captives.]

Convenient dream.

Oh, what I saw? I saw a murderer recalling his past in order to understand how he got to his present-- in an artsy way. Always been a bit of a geek, yea~?

[Hums.]

I do feel somewhat insulted, y'know. I’m real good with se-crets. I wouldn’t tell on you, swear. In fact, I’ll trade you one if it makes it easier stop playing coward~ Gives murderers a bad name, Light-o~

[Light isn't so generous. He gives the softest snort in response to Beyond's accusation - no, to the truth - shaking his head once.]

I know perfectly well how I got to my present, thank you very much. I'm far more interested in how you got to yours. How does a man end up killing another with his bare hands? Why does he lead on L - pardon, Naomi Misora - the way you did? I don't know enough about the case. I do know how you died, and when. It really depends which secret is more valuable to your curiosity, doesn't it?

[He needs to pay attention to this; needs to focus on Beyond's face and his every word. What he's saying--the trade of a secret? What could he possibly know? Something about L, possibly, and his curiosity about that is almost painful.]

Not here. How good are you at escaping?

Deflecting.

[It escaped his mouth before the brunet had finished his little recount of Beyond’s play; while it may have simply been a subject used to redirect the conversation, the man seemed invested enough to truly be curious. As for his death, well, according to Mihael, he died by Kira’s hands and, again, indirectly according Mihael, his death occurred sometime during or before the year 2009.

Without giving up a speck of information to his precious fellow Wammy’s, he gained quite the insight into his end. The same will likely be true of any who speak to him. So careless with their words. Then again, who really enjoys the knowledge? As frustrated as he was to find his lifespan missing in the mirror, there was also a mild sense of relief. He didn't know everything in terms of fate.

B’s expression remains generally amused, picking at his lip and then stroking out the creases. That same amusement grows with the question. At escaping?]

Does Light-o require my assistance, perchance~? [Chuckles.] It largely depends on what you’re escaping; if it’s still a rope, I do hope you can figure it out.

[Licks lips.]

And neither. I don’t care about how or when. [He knows enough whens.] I have a question about you… I will ask when we meet. There is a map on this li’l shit. Where to?

I don't need your help, I'm asking you for the sake of having a private conversation. Off the network, in person, where I can look you in the eye. You know how these detectives are, hiding themselves away when confronting other people. I've come to appreciate being face to face with people--it's a sign of respect.

Like I said, I'm quite free. You, on the other hand, are Mello's captive, and he's not exactly the kindest jailer.

[Light watches. It's particularly unnerving, but hardly any concern. After all, considering he's been face to face with Shinigami, Beyond Birthday's odd quirks were far more human.]

The best place to meet would be a shrine. We're expected to make sacrifices now. [He doesn't sound impressed or convinced.] Also they're secluded and quiet.

[Oh?

Chuckles.]

Am I?

[Perhaps dear Light-o has been left out of the loop, which is perfectly acceptable, for whether or not he is aware of the situation, it will ultimately be of little consequence. To B. Though, that may change as he obtains his own answers. A scuffling of denim and rock and B rises to stand, allowing the shadows to overwhelm his features. The darkness grows more intense as he proceeds, lowering himself to the crawl and holding his palm over the speaker to muffle the words as he listens languidly. No need to disturb Mimi and little Mail.

Eyes dip down to the screen, the light of which barely frames his face in the pitch black. The shrine?

Well, Beyond isn't particularly acquainted with one, but they shouldn't be difficult to locate if these Gods are so very precious. And there is a sacrifice requirement, so it's likely being visited often. The villagers may even direct him, if he can avoid frightening them too thoroughly.]

I agree. A face-to-face meeting is preferable. I'll slip away as soon as possible, but...

[The rock walls are dimly lit, moonlight sweeping over his background. He seems distracted, gathering a few wrapped food goods for the walk. He's busy stuffing them away as he adds:]

Not familiar with the shrines. By Kusasato?

[Because if not, he has quite the trekking to do.]

[Sharp enough, he listens to the soft laughter, surmising from the answer that he's misunderstood. That's fine--it only makes this easier. He shows no sign of disturbance as Beyond moves around, crawling inthe darkness.

His own words are low, subdued, and utterly smooth. He should rightly be afraid, but very little frightens him any more, and if Beyond does anything to him, L will ensure he pays for it.]

That's right. It's called Izanagi, and it's west, toward the coast from Kusasato. I'm sure you can get directions if you get lost.

[And now he knows, he will have to prepare too.]

It shouldn't take more than an hour to get there, even if you're at any distance. Simply think of your destination and most of the time you'll find yourself there at the end of your journey.

[The feed lowers abruptly, catching a puff of white smoke, two pairs of legs and a curt close-up of popcorn-shaped stone-- and then it's bright with the sound of trickling water and crickets fludding over. The video rights itself not a moment later, now uppercutting the underside of his chin and swaying faintly with the natural movement of his arm.

Wide eyes glance down towards it. And, as though ignoring the directions:]

You know where he is.

[He lifts it only slightly, curious-- despite having already assumed the correct answer.]

How did you draw him out? -- Mimi was much too vague, useless almost.

Field trip?

[A sharp glance, and Mello notes the items that B is holding, pushes himself up, and proceeds to wipe the dirt gathered from the cave's floor from his clothing.

Shrine. Really?]

Paying these fuckers, then?

[Which would be one way to get out of having Mello up his ass. It's a thin line -where to give a shit, and where to let things slide- because here, there is no death. Here, there are actions without fucking permanent consequences. And if B's going after L, Mello is going to have to assume that he knows this. Which means that his intention most likely isn't to kill.

No. He'll try to hurt L far worse than that.]

[B blinks at the familiar voice, features composing themselves before a glance, and now there is a grin plastered widely. Ah, does the blond want him to stay now? Of course, it's understandable, considering. If Beyond followed in order to gather information on L's whereabouts, yet is now leaving, he must have found a more... willing source. Will Mihael initiate a scuffle, then? B would win, of course-- unless the gun enters the altercation.

Possible.

Mimi's such a cheat when he's losing.]

Is Mimi my keeper now?

[Smiling as he turns. And he's continuing onwards, taking large steps over larger springs and pressing his palm more firmly to the hitomi's speaker. If the other hears dear Light-o's voice... it is unlikely he will be able to manipulate his way out of this.]

Been your keeper.

[A swallow, and the gun is drawn, pressed to the back of Beyond's scruffy head. Mello really doesn't want to waste any bullets on something that's not permanent.]

You've got this problem with your mouth. [He cocks the safety for good measure.] See, if I were in your position, I'd pretend to go pay tribute. But you like to antagonize. And now you're fucked.

Turn around.

[Beyond pauses and releases an amused hum.]

Did I say I wasn't?

[His grin does falter at the click, forgivable, and he tilts his head if only to lessen the awareness of metal his scalp. His finger releases its hold on the hitomi, hoping that a certain brunet got the indirect hint. Now, then, he will need a distraction. Eyes scan the area, though it has been multiple times already, a habitual precaution of sorts, and, as he turns, the process is repeated.

His hands rise, one gripping the device and the other palms-forward as he beams at his sudden re-captor.]

Mimi has no reason to be so frightened~. I always leave early to catch the bulk of trade-- you can come if you'll miss me so. I've actually been feeling the same way. Looked so peaceful, though~~

[And his free fingers curl subtly, watching the gun out of his peripheral quietly.]

Just shut the fuck up and walk.

[He's tired. Tired of B's bullshit, tired of having to be a goddamn babysitter. But it's necessary, and as long as he openly poses a threat to L, this is what it has to be.

The annoyance is clear on his face, and one hand goes out, fingers curling around the other's forearm to urge him back inside.

Mello had given him the benefit of the doubt, in the beginning. Hoped that maybe B would accept that there was no way he was going to successfully get to L. Fear for his life, even. Move the fuck on.

And the fucked part is that B had a chance. Had a chance to be on his own. But he chose to engage again. And now here they are.]

[Beyond resists the urging peacefully, smile weakening to the faintest smirk and his foot slides forward, slightly.]

Are you going to murder me for walking? [Lulls head back.] I'm sure L would be proud, needlessly following in his footsteps.

[And one step allows him to lean back somewhat, urging the grip on his arm to withdraw and desist.]

I'm going to trade; Mimi may follow, but he has no authority to stop me.

[Particularly not so when the bullets, the pain, the potential bleeeding and subsequent death would be temporary. Whatever that was, the heart attack-- even that wasn't as bad as the flames. B must surmise, with subtle amusement, that a shot to the face would be even less painful. That doesn't make staring the barrel down any less intimidating; probably a human thing, feh.]

I have all the authority I need.

[Which is partially true. And he catches subtle movements from the corner of his eye. Is B going to be stupid enough to try and fight him when he's clearly going to lose?

Trade must be serious business.]

If I feel that where you're going is potentially gonna end in something that threatens L, I have every right to take care of things how I see fit. And right now, I think you're bullshitting me. Suck it up, go inside, and if we start to run low on shit, we'll all go. It's a simple solution. You lost all of your freedom when you came to fuck with me again.

Incorrect.

[As though switching gears, he leans forward instead, slowly, so as not to frighten the blond, and the smirk becomes even more pronounced. It isn't that he especially wishes to die again, an unpleasant memory, but he isn't postponing this to avoid temporary pain. L Lawliet murdered him, actually watched him die, said fuckin' shit to him beforehand, likely hasn't thought about it since, and so B has every right to completely reciprocate. Only it will be much more creative, his response.

Everything L does, B does better, as is custom. ]

Are you going to shoot, Mihael? Might wanna blindfold 'n gag me first; it adds to the experience. Need an audience, eyes to stare and soak it up... S'kinda fascinating, I imagine, experiencing another's death, especially when they're helpless, writhing in agony. Struggling to breathe.

I remember trying to grab you. [Rolls eyes up. Faintest accemt slip as he murmurs lowly.] Actually brushed skin, did you notice? I was practically choking to tell you-- and L. [Giggles.] But you knew. Forgot to mention it, yea'? ... How did it feel, being so close? Practically playing executioner? Powerful in a way?

Must be addicting? Prolly the only reason for this- [Glances to gun briefly and back.] A knife would be more satifying... and Mimi wouldn't want to waste them, afterall.
