[When the screen turns on, there's a charming young man sitting in front of the hitomi. His hair is brushed neatly about his eyes, and both are a subtle, warm brown. Beside him are a collection of food items - most notably a freshly baked treacle sponge cake. Besides this treat there's a pitcher, several eggs, apples, a collection of edible nuts

I'm glad to know that other people are actively thinking about these things. I haven't had any problem getting eggs -- but I've just been chasing down wild birds for them, not domesticating, because so far I've been mostly on the move.
I would love to have some honey though. There are vegetables growing near Hisato that I was using, but they do seem to grow better when someone tends them, and I'm not there now to do it.
Where are you located, though?

We live in Kusasato. There's a well in the village that works as a meeting point; I'm there at sundown to collect water every day, so if there's something you want, that would be the ideal moment.
If you could get hold of the plants, I have no doubt they'd grow well here, cultivated. In the long run it'd solve a bigger problem of finding food.

I haven't been to Kusasato yet, but I'm sure I can find a chance to come by there, given the way travel is here. Right now I'm in Raisato, but I'll be moving to Tsuchisato in a few days. I'm sort of... on a quest.
[He pauses and looks up. He really wants to settle in one place and do this too, but this quest is... important, for now.]
It's nice to see someone actually working toward the future this way instead of just trying to survive, and hopefully I can come meet with you sometime soon. I'll see what plants I can collect that would be useful, and probably bring some meat as well, if I happen to see anything on my way.

[He doesn't look like the questing type, but looks can be deceiving.]
Anything like that. If you come across herbs, they'd be useful too, but they're harder to spot. But yes, anything you see, we'd very much appreciate it, and if you're travelling I'm sure we can find you a spot to stay, if you need it.
I don't think I caught your name? I'm Light.

[Gau smiles, realizing that sounds just a little pretentious, perhaps even a little insane. But it's all right, because whether he finds the gods or not, he's learning things.]
I've been finding plenty of herbs for use in cooking, and a few that I know for medicinal uses. I have a friend with a... chronic illness, so I've been trying to find things that will help him, for breathing mostly.
[The smile slips, for a second, and then it's back. Yoite. He's always worried about Yoite.]
It's nice to meet you, Light-san. I'm Gau.

As for the search for the gods...I hope that goes well for you.
[Even though he doesn't believe in them.]
You should be careful tough, it's dangerous at best.

[He chews his lip for a second, trying to sort out what other possibilities he can come up with.]
I've only been here a short while, myself, so I don't know what other people's resources are quite yet, but I'll ask my partner as well and see if he knows anything helpful. And don't worry about the quest: I'm going in a group with a bunch of other people, and we're being very careful.

[Some kind of flower, wasn't it?
So long as you're taking precautions, then. We need to stick together, here.
