Dec 30, 2011 14:17

SPOILER WARNING for the PH manga from chapter 52 to 59, and a bit from 61. Also there is death and decapitation in this, but not really written all that detailed, I don't think?

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall )

action[Leo senses it in his sleep. Things are shifting and changing again, and the focus is 'that' time again. It's like Vincent's dream before but... it's worse this time because it's coming from Elliot, and everything is so much more clear and... he can feel Elliot's emotions far too clearly. The worst part is that he knows what's going to happen next. Leo knows what's coming because he's seen the climax of this horrid story before. He'd only managed to remain sane because for him... it was just like a story. Because Elliot was still here and safe and ignorant and he wasn't dead, wasn't even hurt... wasn't even aware. But that was about to change wasn't it. The panic was already rising. Leo didn't want Elliot know all these things. And he didn't want to face Elliot once he did. He was scared. When its over, he's almost afraid to wake up, but it has to happen. His eyes flutter open and he's staring at the ceiling, but Elliot is there, close to him... in the same bed. All he has to do is turn his head and look at him ( ... )

[Elliot isn't so far gone that he can't hear Leo, no. He hears him quite clearly, as he clutches his nightshirt over his chest and feels the warm blood soak through it. He doesn't know what to do about everything, and that's not the end of it either. He knows there's more, he knows that after so long here in Kannagara, there's more.

His brothers, his mother, his sister... Leo and Oz and... who else is involved in these false memories.

"I can't anything."

--right, Fai. Fai, Fai, Fai-- Shit, damn it, no...

"I want to protect Yuui from harm."

"I can give you that power."

"You must absolutely promise that Yuui will be safe. What do you want in return."

"He will be if you want him to be. It will be in your hands, not anyone else's. I require only your time."

SHIT.]

Leo... It's. It's okay.

[He grits his teeth at another throb of pain, sucks in a sharp breath. He remembers dreams, too, so many dreams. And Leo...

"...you'll just forget."

Leo has known for a long time now, and he's had to carry it all on his own.]

You... I'm sorry

It's not okay!!

[He wants to hit Elliot for saying such a stupid thing. He wants to... what? What was so clear a second ago becomes unsure. His mind is clouded and confused; going in a million directions.]

Don't say that.

[Leo hates apologies. If they're directed at him, he doesn't know what to do. As if he'd regret anything he'd done for Elliot. No. The things he regrets are the misfortunes he's brought upon Elliot by choosing foolishly and blindly to follow him. He didn't know that it would hurt Elliot this way. No matter what world it was... it was bound to happen. And it all went back to one thing.

It was Leo's fault.

He can't look at Elliot. Even though he's here... even though he's awake. He doesn't know what to do. Isn't it inevitable? Elliot would die if left to him. That's why... he needs... someone... He needs someone to save Elliot, because Elliot is... Elliot is... everything.]

[Yeah, of course he knew it was a stupid thing to say. It was just the first thing that came to mind, even if he knows things are of course far from okay and won't be okay. At least there won't be any other wounds, but this is... this is quite bad enough.

Not that it matters, because he can't... he'll just die again, won't he? Surely the seal has only progressed further here and... he can't give into Humpty Dumpty, won't. He just needs to... remember everything.]

No, I... have to say it...

[He starts moving, slowly, even as he keeps his eyes shut to keep remembering.

"He used you. He used the children of Fianna House, he used everyone. Do you think your father didn't know anything? Do you think that your death was something he couldn't have foreseen or changed?"

His fatherHe feels so sick ( ... )

[And so the truth unfolds. Break remembers the information Sharon brought him after he woke from the slumber that mess of a celebration sent him into. He knows the conclusion but seeing it all play out is far more informative. He can almost feel sorry for the lad. So young and yet doomed without him deciding it to begin with. Break is surprised though to see the rat showing his vulnerable side. Why it almost makes him human. Almost. Break is not so easily swayed especially when he knows what happens after those *touching* final moments of Elliot. Break is pretty sure Elliot would not thank Vincent for what he's made of Leo. Still even though he is a brat, that final choice does raise his opinion of Elliot. Wanting to end it all with his own hands. How precious and ironic given his stance on sacrifice. Then again in that particular circumstance it WAS the only choice. Break certainly can't ridicule that. He can almost doubt Elliot is the son of that sniveling coward, the late duke Nightray ( ... )

[Reaction]

[The emotions Cheshire forcefully felt from the Hitomi irritated him a bit, especially since he just woke up. For a Chain killing humans is no big deal for him, and he doesn't want to sympathize with this guy. Rather, he should pity the rejected Chain if anything. That aside, it seemed that Cheshire's guess was right on the mark. Elliot being a contractor, that is. It was not at all surprising to Cheshire thanks to the vague scent of Humpty Dumpty. Of course, Alice told him not to say anything about it so he complied. And now he can see her reason for it. Cheshire had remained wary though, just in case. Not that the Chain posed any threat to Cheshire if Elliot used its power.

So now what then? Will Elliot die? Cheshire doesn't exactly care, but Alice certainly... would. If she hadn't already, she'll watch this eventually ...and would surely want to go see Elliot. He doesn't want to see her upset, but there's no way he would want to stop her either...]

action

The witching hour was that hour of the night just before down when everything was at its quietest. Nothing moved or called out or did anything but stare out into the darkness and prayed to turn the earth and bring back the sun. Even the nightingales would not sing.

When Fai woke, the darkness and silence of a sleeping house was draped over his head like a thick blanket and he struggled for several heartbeats to find the reason for it. What could have- pain!

He and Yuui did everything together, even slept in the same bed nearly every night, so when the pain went gasping through him Fai dropped not so much to the mattress as directly onto his brother. It hurt! Like a burning brand, the mark on his chest, the one that he’d all but forgotten, that had been hidden all this time...

Yuui was...Yuui was going to be so angry.

Yuui was confused, and alarmed, because it took him a moment to realize the pain wasn’t even his own.

It was Fai’s.

Which made the moment less confusing and more alarming with each labored breath. He pushed up to sitting even as his hands reached out for his brother’s too-light form sprawled over him, unconsciously untangling his feet with Vincent’s as he did so. “Fai? Fai! What--where--”

Strong hands pulled the slight form into Yuui’s lap, cerulean eyes wide as he tried to get a good look at his beloved twin in the dark, tried to get out a coherent question. “Fai? What’s wrong?!”

There was a slight disoriented feeling from the dream when Vincent woke up. He knew that he’d been dreaming about Elliot, but the perspective was all wrong; it wasn’t his own perspective on the events that had happened at all, but his brother’s. That was strange enough to Vincent, without waking up to the twins having some sort of crisis.

Thus, he was shaking his head and blinking when he pushed himself up to a sitting position, his eyes immediately turning to his friends.

“Fai?”

He shifted a little to get a better view, shook his head again. “Fai?”

“It hurts!” Fai was as tense as a bowstring, curled around himself despite Yuui’s attempts to get at the problem. He wasn’t thinking, just clutching at the mark in a panic, locked in the most primitive reaction; make it go away!

It didn’t go away, but it did change, a bell-tone crescendo rung right through his chest and Fai made a low unhappy groan. Why couldn’t it just stop! Why was this happening? Would it just keep getting worse and worse until he died?

“Yuui, help!” Fai gasped, reaching out, giving up and finally letting them see. He didn’t care how much trouble it got him in anymore, he just wanted the hurt to go away. Yuui could do it, surely. Yuui could do anything.
