I was wondering if someone would be willing to train me in self defense? There are creatures in this land that are obviously hostile and violent, and I have no wish to be a liability to

I would like to be able, in the event of a monster or bandit attack, be able to defend myself without endangering others by forcing them to save me. I don't have extensive experience with martial arts, so learning to use a weapon seems a more practical solution to compensate for my lack of build and conditioning.

[She's put a lot of thought into this. She puts a lot of thought into everything.]

A compromise does sound like the most reasonable option. It was my intention to seek out hand to hand combat training eventually, I just was unsure if it would even the playing field sufficiently between myself and an attacker the way a weapon would. I understand that such training takes a great deal of time, dedication, and physical conditioning before you're able to really utilize it against an opponent.

[The sound of a fingernail tapping against her hitomi]

Still, you make a good point, and basic self defense training certainly would not hurt, and would form the foundation for future lessons. Thank you for your advice Mr...?

Understood. I am more concerned about my ability to inflict damage upon an attacker, I do recognize that using a weapon without the proper skills is irresponsible and dangerous. That is why I've sought out training.

[When Asuka takes up a task, she devotes herself to it utterly. It's how she has chosen to live her life, and this is certainly no exception.]

I know this is not a task to undertake lightly, but I have...[She pauses, and for the first time her voice hesitates] I understand what it is like to be helpless, and I no longer wish to feel that way.

That...sounds reasonable. I'm still new to all this, I'm afraid. Most fighting where I'm from is done with cards.

[She really doesn't want to run away, doesn't want to let others fight, but her desire not to be pushed aside is at war with her practicality.]

Would you be willing to meet to see if I'm someone you could train?
