“Hey. Hey mister.”raging_kitsuneSeptember 5 2011, 02:44:45 UTC
It feels almost strange to be looking up at this person, but he's only five and he's not very big for his age.
"Do you have any food?" he asks, not shy at all about having to ask a complete stranger. He just knows he's hungry and there's an adult on his roof. He glances back at the box he calls home and then rubs his nose as he turns to look up at the man again. The box is leaning, mostly soaked through like his clothes. But it doesn't seem to matter. "I'll trade you this necklace for something to eat." He hesitantly holds out a blue crystal with a few beads on either side. The necklace is important to him, precious, but so is the ache in his tummy.

[Jason jerks around when he hears that voice, frowning slightly, when he sees the kid there. His stomach twists, cause dammit, because that sight strikes far too close to home.]
[Though, to be fair, Jason spent more of his time stealing money than begging for it, but the situation is still there, the sentiment. Being hungry, cold and mostly alone.]
Keep the necklace, kid. [He reaches into his pocket, grabbing his wallet, and pulls out several bills, handing them over.]
Re: “Hey. Hey mister.”red_handed_jaySeptember 5 2011, 03:16:17 UTC
[....Not wanting the money. Huh. that's different. His voice is a touch wry as he answers.] Don't really bring any with me when I go jumping on roofs. [He eyes the kid for a moment, then offers.]
Well, if you want to trust me, we can go down and I can buy you some food. [It's not as though he has anything to do.]

[Another glance back at the box before he's looking up at the man again. He's hungry enough that the need for food wins out over losing another home. So he reaches out expectantly, small hand slipping into the man's.]
Re: “Hey. Hey mister.”red_handed_jaySeptember 5 2011, 03:47:20 UTC
[Well this kid is certainly a hell of a lot more trusting than Jason was back then, but there's just something that's inherently endearing about the kid slipping his hand into Jason's that he can't quite bring himself to tell him to be a little more wary. Later, later he will.]
[He cocks his head at the question, because it seems to come out of the blue, and could refer to many different things. He leads the boy to the edge as he asks.]
That depends now doesn't it? What are we talking about exactly?
Re: “Hey. Hey mister.”red_handed_jaySeptember 5 2011, 04:36:02 UTC
[Jason blinks, looking down at the kid. And while Jason is never one to underestimate, there is nothing threatening in the kid's scrawny form, his hesitance unfeigned.]

[Ginko wanders through this place, avoiding collisions with other people absently as he looks at his surroundings. He's glad, with the icy rain, that he thought to bring his coat with him--the heavy material absorbs the rain and his body heat alike, and keeps him warm.
It's night, and the sky still burns with light. A strange sight, but not one that bothers him right now. He simply accepts it.
Just like he accepts the impulse to follow a lone figure, as it turns away from the crowded street, and down to a quieter place. He catches up just as the younger man jumps to grab hold of a ladder that's somehow suspended from a wall.]
Hey. [The word is spoken quietly.] I was wondering... could you help me?
Re: Part of the crowdred_handed_jaySeptember 5 2011, 18:57:15 UTC
Jason twists around as he glances back, head cocking as he looks down at the other man. He's not a part of his place, and for a dizzying moment, Jason is sure that this is wrong, that somehow, just...
But then it's gone, banished because there's something about the man, something that makes Jason grin a little bit, which is rare enough for him. He lets go of the ladder, easily landing next to the other man, that little grin still on his face.
"Hey. Sure, I think I can." He pauses, and something's niggling at the back of his head, and he taps at his cheek for a moment. "You'd like to see the city, right?"
Re: Part of the crowdverdant_walkerSeptember 5 2011, 19:17:38 UTC
Ginko doesn't see anything wrong with this situation. He's done it a hundred, a thousand times before--end up in an unfamiliar village or town, and ask someone for directions. Or where to find a restaurant, or someone who's sick, or...
This place might not be anything like what he would normally see, his subconscious whispers to him, but still... the things he does in response are the same.
"Yeah... I got a little turned around, and I'm not sure where I am now." He chuckles, a little ruefully. "Any help you could give me would be appreciated."

Jason pauses for a moment, then grins. "Well, to get a better layout, a bird's eye view is what you really want. Since it seemed that you were going up to the roof anyways. Wanna just follow me up?"
Re: Part of the crowdverdant_walkerSeptember 5 2011, 22:11:57 UTC
His breath catches just a little at the question, but... yes, he was going to the roof, wasn't he? Yeah, that's why he followed this guy over here. And a higher vantage point will definitely let him see better.
He grins, easily, and moves a little closer. "Sure, that sounds fine." He'll wait until the guy moves out of the way, gives him room. Something tells him he can make that jump easily, even if it's further than he'd normally try for.

You don't have food?
[Because he can't eat money and he can't leave his box. Someone might take it.]

You're not afraid of me?
[He asks his question with a sad look in his eyes, as if he expects the man to suddenly pull away and be afraid once he figures it out.]

I'm not.
